Blake Shelton's Oklahoma Benefit To Take Place On Wednesday
Blake Shelton is holding his tornado relief benefit on Wednesday in Oklahoma City. The state native decided to help out after watching footage of the storm, which tore apart the city's suburbs on Monday and killed of 24 people.
The country star will headline "Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert" at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Also performing: Reba McEntire, Vince Gill and his wife Miranda Lambert.
Shelton commented: "Everyone has their way to help, and mine as an entertainer is to perform to help raise money and awareness for this tragedy. This is why I want to do this special and especially hold it in Oklahoma City, which is near ground zero."
Proceeds from the event will benefit the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund. The concert will be televised live on various networks on Friday,
Shelton and his wife performed their duet of "Over You" on "The Voice" earlier this week and dedicated the song to those suffering in the wake of the deadly tornado. Lambert also helped deploy mobile pet rescue centers to the town of Moore to help care for injured animals.
