Rapper Jim Jones is breathing a sigh of relief after a battery charge against  him was dropped. The Diplomats star pleaded not guilty to the allegation in April, relating to a March incident with a teenage fan in Florida.

The hip-hop star faced one count of misdemeanor battery after Damion Johns accused Jones of punching him in the face at the MTV Spring Break concert.

But Jones has been cleared after prosecutors decided evidence against rapper was insufficient - the Florida's State Attorney's Office withdrew the charge on Friday, reports AllHipHop.com.

It's not the first time Jones has been accused of involvement in a violent incident - he pleaded guilty in October to a misdemeanour assault charge, stemming from a brawl with members of Ne-Yo's entourage, in order to avoid prolonged probation.

He was instead sentenced to time served, which he completed shortly after the arrest in New York in January.
