Baseball star Manny Ramirez has been officially charged with misdemeanor domestic violence stemming from his recent arrest in Florida.
The former Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox player was taken into custody on September 12 following an alleged altercation with his wife Juliana at their home.
He was released on $2,500 bail and subsequently banned from contacting his wife while police officers investigated the reported incident, and now he has now been slapped with misdemeanor counts of domestic violence and battery, according to
Ramirez, who was suspended from baseball for violating the game's drug policy in 2009, retired as a Tampa Bay Rays player earlier this year after reportedly testing positive for a banned performance-enhancing drug.
