Canadian rockers Arcade Fire gave fans something to talk about during their set at the Coachella festival in California by teaming up with an experimental art group to create a bizarre stage show.

The group took to the stage to headline the second night of the Indio, California event on Saturday and they made it a performance to remember by putting together an onstage art installation with members of The Creators Project group.

A large crane held a dark-coloured box the same size as the stage in the air for most of the show and it was gradually raised up until hundreds of balloon-like lanterns spilled out over the crowd.

Officials at The Creators Project have previously created art installations with acts including Daft Punk, The Pixies, Radiohead and Kraftwerk.
