American Idol’ went out on top in the ratings in its final week, but final numbers were well below last year. The results show drew 21.5 million viewers – well above Tuesday’s performance show (not quite 15 million) but more than 20 percent below last year.

Comparatively, FOX’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ may have reason to be worried. Already cut to one night a week, Thursday’s edition didn’t even place in the Top 20. With less competition this week and ‘American Idol’’s old time slot, we’ll see if the numbers inch upward this week.

‘Dancing With the Stars’ ended well too – the week’s editions ended up with 17.75 million and 16.84 million viewers, respectively, good for 3rd and 4th place.

In terms of scripted programming, the season finale of ‘Modern Family’ was tops in 5th place with over 10 million viewers, while the series finale of ‘House’ snagged 8.72 million, good for 11th place.
