I've heard often from people outside of geekdom that when we geeks get together we seem like we're speaking a different language. This is especially true amongst video gamers, because over the years we've found ways to shorten definitions of our games so communication is quick and direct.

Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in North America, and Buena Vista Games, Inc. (BVG), the interactive entertainment affiliate of The Walt Disney Company announced today that their Kingdom Hearts series of action role-playing games has shipped more than 10 million units worldwide, making it one of the top game series in the world. Released to chart-topping sales in 2006, Kingdom Hearts II is the sequel to Kingdom Hearts, one of the top ten best-selling PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system titles of all time in North America (Source: The NPD Group, March 2006).

New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS tops May's list to little suprise. However, the fact that the PS2 continues to dominate the list with games both new and old is rather surprising, as is the total lack of Xbox games on the list. Full list below!

Kingdom Hearts II continues to dominate sales charts, while the 360 continues to add more and more games to the Top 20. The biggest surprise is the lack of Nintendo DS games until the 14th spot, and only two total. Only one Xbox game makes the list, as more gamers move up to the 360, and the Playstation Portable isn't represented at all. Full list below!

The top of the console charts isn't all that surprising, as many had preordered Kingdom Hearts II the day it was announced. The pause between the first and second title was more than enough to develop a cult following (as well as a great game) and boost sales. The Sims 2 has enough installed users to warrant multiple expansions and over 200,000 units sold for Open For Business, a game that requires the original title, is nothing blink at - especially at the top of the charts, over Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion! Kingdom Hearts II (PS2) - The surprising collaboration between Disney and Square Enix returns in this follow-up to 2002’s sleeper hit, Kingdom Hearts. Players will guide an older and more powerful Sora along with unlikely pals Goofy and Donald Duck in multiple worlds based on classic and contemporary Disney films. The action once again follows a party of three characters as they fight enemies, solve puzzles, and explore their cinematic surroundings from a third-person perspective.
