Veteran Soap Actress Jeanne Cooper, Who Starred On 'The Young And The Restless' For 40 Years, Dies At 84

Veteran daytime TV star Jeanne Cooper passed away on Wednesday at the age of 84.

The soap star and mother of actor Corbin Bernsen had battled a long illness.

"Mom passed this morning. She was in peace and without fear. U all have been incredible in your love. In her name share it 2 day with others," Bernsen tweeted.

Cooper played Katherine Chancellor on CBS's The Young And The Restless for 40 years from 1973 until her death.

The actress starred in several westerns before transitioning to TV and starring on 50s and 60s shows like "Perry Mason" and "Ben Casey."

The actress passed away on Wednesday morning (08May13) after a long battle with a mystery illness.

The actress, who played Katherine Chancellor on the hit soap opera for nearly four decades, has revealed she sought comfort from Kazer, who is 21 years her junior, after her television producer husband Harry Bernsen, Jr. unexpectedly filed for divorce several years ago.

Soap opera General Hospital has been tipped for glory at the 2012 Daytime Emmy Awards after scooping a whopping 23 nominations.

The long-running medical drama, which is up for the highly-coveted Outstanding Drama Series trophy, also landed nods in the best lead actor and actress categories for Maurice Bernard, Anthony Geary and Laura Wright.

Beloved TV star John Dye has died at the age of 47. The actor, best known for playing angel Andrew in the drama "Touched by an Angel," passed away at his San Francisco, California, home on Monday after suffering heart failure.

Dye racked up a number of TV credits during his career with appearances on shows including "Murder, She Wrote," "Promised Land" and "The Young and the Restless."

His "Touched By An Angel" co-star Valerie Bertinelli has since taken to Twitter to pay tribute to Dye, writing, "Dear, sweet John Dye, rest in peace."

Veteran actor Eric Braeden has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 66-year-old is best known for his long-running role as ruthless Victor Newman on popular TV soap The Young and the Restless, and he was awarded an Emmy for his part in the show in 1998.

He was presented with the 2,342nd star on the Hollywood Boulevard landmark on Friday, with his "The Young and the Restless" co-stars on hand to celebrate the achievement.

TV director Bill Glenn has died at the age of 74 in Palm Springs, California. Glenn passed away at his home on June 11. The cause of his death has not been disclosed, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Born in Ottawa, Canada, in 1933, Glenn is best known for launching soap opera The Young And The Restless in 1973. He also directed episodes of "Santa Barbara" and The Bold And The Beautiful.

Rowell, of The Young & The Restless, fell for the 31-year-old musician on the set of military drama Home of The Brave, according to In Touch Weekly, and the couple has been an item ever since.

Rowell, who has an 11-year-old son by ex-boyfriend Wynton Marsalis, isn't the first famous older woman 50 Cent has been involved with - he previously dated Vivica A. Fox, 42.

Victoria Rowell is so furious about the Emmy award voting process that she has quit popular soap The Young And The Restless. The former model played Drucilla Winters on the show and is notably absent from this year's TV award list.

Rowell has blasted the nomination process, which she brands "unfair" because it requires fellow actors, rather than independent judges, to nominate their favorite candidates.

Rowell attributes nominations to "who's buying coffee for the cast, who's doing the political campaign throughout the year rather than who's doing the work on the stage."
