Expectations are high for Joss Whedon's SHIELD live-action superhero series. While animated series based on comics have flourished ever since Batman: The Animated series broke onto the scene in the early 90s, live-action shows based on comic books are hit-or-miss. They require a larger budget to showcase super powers and outlandish costumes and mutants. Despite this, we were able to point out the five best live action TV shows based on comics - and managed to cut down the worst to five.

Maggie Q To Play Animated Wonder Woman

Maggie Q is set to become the latest actress to play Wonder Woman after signing on for a new animated TV series.

The actress will make her debut as the superheroine in Cartoon Network series "Young Justice" on March 24, according to TVGuide.com.

Maggie Q insists she was born to play Wonder Woman: "In my head I am her. No stretch there. When I was a kid, I used to dress up as her. I couldn't afford a costume, so I would make her headband, wristbands and the lasso out of paper and tape it to myself, and run around, climb up roofs and try to jump off them."

Bubba Smith Who Played Hightower On 'Police Academy' Dies At 66

Police Academy star Charles "Bubba" Smith has died, aged 66.

The towering former football star, who played Moses Hightower in the film franchise, was found dead at his home in Baldwin Hills, Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Before he became a film star, Smith played for the Oakland Raiders, Houston Oilers and Baltimore Colts, with whom he won a Super Bowl.

After walking away from his sports career in the late 1970s, he found success on TV in series like "Good Times," "Charlie's Angels" and "Wonder Woman." He also landed the lead role of Lyman "Bubba" Kelsey in 1984's "Blue Thunder."

NBC Kills 'Wonder Woman' Remake

After all the fuss over casting and costumes, NBC has killed the Wonder Woman remake before it ever got to air.

NBC has passed on the Wonder Woman revamp, according to network sources.

Months of intense nerd debate over casting and costumes have come to naught as NBC has decided not to bring the Wonder Woman pilot to series. While an official announcement by the network is still forthcoming -- upfronts start Monday in New York, and that's when season schedule announcements are usually made -- inside sources are adamant.
