CBS Renews 11 Series For The 2008-09 Season

CBS has renewed 11 series for next season in a move that will return 10 hours of the Network's primetime schedule and eight of the top 20 scripted series on television.

The 11 series are Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Ghost Whisperer, NCIS, Numb3Rs, freshman comedy The Big Bang Theory, Two And A Half Men and Without A Trace. They join the previously announced Survivor, another top 20 program, and The Amazing Race, which ranks among the top 30.

No more new Grey's Anatomy episodes are set to air, at least not until the strike is resolved. Let's take a look back at the shortened fourth season of everyone's favorite show about a hospital where you would never want to be a patient.

One cast member left, and new ones took his place. We all learned to how much blood can spray on an intern. Most importantly, we were able to enjoy a show that in the previous season was a melodramatic letdown nearly each and every week.

Without A Trace star Poppy Montgomery has given birth to a boy. The star and her boyfriend, actor Adam Kaufman, welcomed Jackson Phillip Kaufman into the world on December 23.

The baby, who is the first child for both parents, was born in Los Angeles and weighed 3.29 kilograms (seven pounds and four ounces).

Montgomery's pregnancy was written into missing persons drama "Without A Trace," on which she plays FBI agent Samantha Spade.

Poppy Montgomery's pregnancy is to be written into missing persons drama Without A Trace. The pretty star, who is due to give birth to her first child in December, plays FBI agent Samantha Spade in the hit TV series.

And, rather than hide her baby bump, producers have chosen to use the baby news as a plotline in the new season of the show. Montgomery announced she was pregnant with longtime boyfriend Adam Kaufman's child in June.

CBS Announces 2007-2008 Premiere Dates

CBS today announced plans for the premieres of its new and returning series which includes the early debut of its freshman reality series "Kid Nation," as well as "Survivor: China" and most of its Sunday lineup during the week of Sept. 17. The Network will launch the remainder of its schedule beginning Monday, Sept. 24, the official start of the 2007-2008 season.

CBS's new reality series "Kid Nation" premieres Wednesday, Sept. 19 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) followed the next night with the debut of "Survivor: China," Thursday, Sept. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT).

Actors Poppy Montgomery and Adam Kaufman are celebrating after learning they are expecting their first child. The couple met three years ago while filming the movie Between in Mexico. Without A Trace star Montgomery is due to give birth in November.

The 34-year-old tells website People.com, "It's so crazy. I can't believe it." Montgomery adds that she has talked about marriage with Kaufman but that "it's not a huge priority right now. We're together and that's all that really matters."

During "sweeps," Nielsen Media Research sends out diaries to sample homes across the country so TV viewers can record the shows they watched. Based on these results, networks set their advertising rates. The more people watch a show, the more they can charge for the commercials during it.

Laura Mackenzie, an 18-year-old woman missing for five months, was located yesterday in St. Augustine Beach, Fla. after she was seen by a man who said he recognized her from a Public Service Announcement (PSA) featuring Mackenzie during the June 1 broadcast of the CBS drama Without A Trace.

Mackenzie, who is from Goffstown, N.H., disappeared on March 8, the day she was scheduled to face shoplifting charges in Manchester, N.H. District Court. Crime drama CSI: Miami has been named the world's most popular show in a study of television ratings. The forensic science drama, starring David Caruso, came top after viewing habits in 20 countries were examined by Informa Telecoms and Media.

The show is produced by movie mogul Jerry Bruckheimer, who has two other shows in the top 10 - CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the original CSI set in Las Vegas, comes in at number six, and missing persons drama Without A Trace is seventh.
