Times are tough in the universe, and to combat the threat of King Zarkon, whose evil forces are sweeping the galaxy, a team of elite scientists is sent to planet Arus to find a legendary, ancient weapon known as Voltron. Sadly, when they arrive, they find that Zarkon has been there first and the planet lay in ruins. Battle ensues between the task force and Zarkon's forces, and the scientists are captured.
