11/10/2015 10:14am EST
'The Voice' Recap: Live Playoffs Begin With Team Adam vs. Team G
Season 9 of The Voice is down to its last quarter: the live playoffs. The final act started Monday night with Team Adam and Team Gwen - and two "Coach Comeback Artists" given a new lease on life - performing for fan votes for the first time. Only three singers from each team would make the cut, but who had the best shot?

At the top of the show, though, was this season's new plot twist: each of the coaches was given the opportunity to bring back an eliminated artist into the Top 20. Neither decision was a surprise. Adam Levine chose to save pop singer Chance Pena, while Gwen Stefani went wi...

Blake Shelton And Gwen Stefani Dating For 'The Voice' Ratings Or
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani relationship the real deal or is ploy to up the ratings for Season 9 of NBC's The Voice? They went public as a couple after the Country Music Awards last week, and their timing couldn't be better — we're right in the midst of the Nielson's sweeps period that started October 29 and ends November 25.

TV By The Numbers reports that ratings for the September 2015 premiere of the current season of The Voice had lower ratings than the previous two seasons, including Season 7 in September 2014 and Season 8 in February 15. Although the ratings have been slowly creepi...

What had Gwen Stefani looking like this? And who did her BFF Pharrell Williams use his - and the season's - last steal on? Read on to find out.

Things get started with the last knockout for Team Adam, where Shelby Brown ("Jesus Take The Wheel") battles James Dupre ("Sure Be Cool If You Did"). Honestly, there will never be a better rendition of "Jesus Take The Wheel" on this show than Jeff Jenkins in season o...

10/28/2015 9:06am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: The Second Of Three Knockouts And Blake's Fin
There were only three knockout rounds shown during Tuesday's episode of The Voice, but that was enough for Blake Shelton to use his last steal of season 9. (In of course, the last knockout of the episode. That's how we do things on this show.) Who got the golden ticket and which two artists went home? Read on.

First up is Team Gwen, as Korin Bukowski's "All I Want" goes against Summer Schappell's "Little White Church." The good news is, this is the first time all season that Summer hasn't been montaged. The bad news is she's up against Korin, whom Gwen seems to really like. Both performanc...

Rihanna Joins 'The Voice' As Special Guest Advisor
R&B superstar Rihanna will make her first appearance on The Voice Monday, joining the Emmy winning singing competition as a special advisor to the Season 9 artists for the knockout rounds.

She will work with all four teams, giving advice as the singers square off in head to head match-ups where they perform a 90-second snippet of the song of their choice, with the winner earning a coveted spot in next month's live shows.

This is only the second time that Rihanna has coached on a reality show. She was a guest judge on The X Factor for three episodes during its first season in 2011. She has...

Amy Vachal Talks Battling Jubal And Amanda On 'The Voice'

10/24/2015 12:30pm EDT
'The Voice': Amy Vachal Discusses What It's Like To Battle A Duo
One of the unique challenges of The Voice is that sometimes singers and duos have to go head-to-head during the battle rounds. That one-against-two matchup creates a whole different approach for the artists as they sing to keep their place in the competition.

With the battle rounds over, Team Pharrell's Amy Vachal spoke to Starpulse on a recent conference call about how she prepared for her pairing against country duo Jubal and Amanda, and how the three of them made The Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody" sound that good.

"Throughout the process of preparing for the battles, there’s a lot of cha...

Team Adam is the first to conclude its battles, as Adam matches Shelby Brown against Amanda Ayala on Stevie Nicks' "Edge of Seventeen" in a battle of teenage singers. Shelby has apparently never performed with a full band, so that's a challenge for her. But following the most awkward commercial break on this show, Shelb...

Half Of 'The Voice' Battle Rounds End In Steals

10/20/2015 8:41am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: Three More Steals In Six More Battles
Six more battle rounds aired during Monday night's episode of The Voice, and half of those ended in steals. There wasn't a ton of suspense as we hit the halfway point of the battles part of the competition - but that's in keeping with a season 9 that's played largely by the numbers so far.

Team Blake kicks things off, with Blind Joe facing Blaine Mitchell in a battle of "Old Time Rock and Roll." The two are working together as a great unit, which makes for an entertaining battle, even if it doesn't change the outcome. Obviously Blind Joe isn't going anywhere, so the question is if anyone w...

10/14/2015 10:35am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: The First Upset In Second Battles Episode
Tuesday's second battle installment of The Voice kicked off with an upset and ended with a steal, placing the first battle montage of the season in the middle. It was a mixed bag for coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams, and if you missed any of the episode last night, here's what happened.

Team Adam: Keith Semple vs. Manny Cabo, "Baba O'Riley"

This is not an easy song to sing; just ask season one's Beverly McClellan or season three's Terry McDermott. But it's the pick for these two veteran rockers and family men, as Adam needs to decide which one he'll b...

10/13/2015 9:40am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: No Upsets In First Round Of Battles
If The Voice was a college basketball bracket, there'd be a whole lot of chalk right now. In Monday's first set of Season 9 battle rounds, everything turned out pretty much as any fan would expect it to. Five artists who impressed Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams with their blind auditions completed, and all five of them moved on in the competition.

Meanwhile, several artists who were not as lucky in the first part of the season were also not so lucky in their battle rounds. Who were the three singers who got sent packing? Read on as we discuss Monday night's ...

Christina Aguilera Is Returning To 'The Voice' For Season 10
The original diva of 'The Voice' is about to retake her throne.

That's the announcement NBC made Wednesday as it revealed that Christina Aguilera, 34, will return to the hit talent show for Season 10. Aguilera will reclaim her chair alongside Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Wiliams. The new season is set to premiere in February.

Aguilera has taken multiple breaks from the show in the past, and her latest hiatus came after giving birth to her daughter, Summer Rain, with fiance Matt Rutler, in August 2014. Aguilera has also said she is working on a new album.

Aguilera's chair was k...

'The Voice': Coaches Find The Last Pieces For Their Teams

10/6/2015 9:15am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: The Final Eight Auditions
Season nine of The Voice only needed eight more singers, so on Monday night Adam Levine and company set about finding the last pieces for their teams. Who were the eight that finished up the Top 48? Read on to find out.

Dustin Christensen began the night with a soulful rendition of "Downtown Train," and all four coaches wanted him for their teams, making this the fourth of five episodes to start with a four-chair turn. Dustin chose Team Blake (possibly due to all the Blake heads on sticks that mysteriously found their way into the audience), but Adam would get his revenge...kind of.

How Did 'The Voice' Help Gwen Stefani’s Own Music Career?

10/5/2015 12:03pm EDT
'The Voice': Gwen Stefani Says Show 'Inspired' Her Music Career
Coaching on NBC's The Voice has reinvigorated Gwen Stefani's career. The "Hollaback Girl" singer told Starpulse during a recent press junket how her first year coaching on the show made her feel different about her own music, and why she decided to come back for this season.

"The experience is what inspired me," she said. "I think I was just so shocked, because I'd just had a baby and they just asked me to do the show and it was just a shock. Never in my life would I ever do something like this. It just didn't seem like my thing...It was a crazy move and I just think that sometimes, things...

'The Voice' Recap: Blind Auditions Are Almost Over

9/30/2015 9:18am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: Season 8 Blind Auditions Are Almost Over
After this week, there's only one more night of blind auditions for The Voice. So on Tuesday, coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams are busy taking their teams from 'sort of done' to 'mostly done,' after the slightly creepy black-and-white versions of past artists stopped popping up.

Darius Scott opens the show with his cover of "You Make Me Wanna..." and turns three chairs, those belonging to Adam, Gwen and Pharrell. Darius goes to Team Pharrell, basing it on his high school experience which includes a N*E*R*D* tattoo. Also known as the one tattoo Adam doe...

'The Voice' Blind Auditions Continue

9/29/2015 10:09am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: Season 8 Blind Auditions, Part 3
It's time for the second week of blind auditions on The Voice, and with our coaches already having filled at least a third of their teams, this is usually where things start to get dicey. Season 9 is no exception. And on top of that, we have the show's first-ever marriage proposal. No, we're not kidding.

Firstly, here's a shocker: the episode does not start with a four-chair audition. Morgan Frazier gets on the show with her cover of "I Want You To Want Me" (how appropriate for this moment, right?), and turns both Gwen and Blake. Morgan being a country artist, she takes her guitar and goes...

How Does Carson Daly Feel About Blind Auditions?

9/28/2015 12:04pm EDT
'The Voice': Carson Daly On How He Supports Artists During Blind
We're now into blind auditions on The Voice, so we can also enjoy one of the show's most heartwarming parts: host and producer Carson Daly acting as the biggest support for the hopeful artists and their families. This is truly the guy you want in your corner if you or someone you love is about to give the performance of their lives.

During a recent press junket for the singing competition, Daly shared with Starpulse how he handles being backstage during the blind auditions - and his killer commute for this fall's live shows.

"I sort of look forward to it and dread it at the same time," he...

This Artist Has A Chance To Go All The Way On 'The Voice'

9/28/2015 9:40am EDT
Could Keith Semple Be A Surprise Hit On 'The Voice'?
Every season on The Voice, there are the artists that everyone knows - and then there are the ones who sneak up on audiences. In this season, that's Irish rock band front man Keith Semple.

Keith might have only turned two chairs with his blind audition, but he has the potential to go all the way to the top. Starpulse spoke with Keith recently to ask him how he prepared for his Voice debut and how he's adapting to the reality TV experience.

"I didn’t think that I could actually be nervous anymore," he confided. "I’ve done this for so long and I do many shows. I’m like 'Oh, it’s just anothe...

'The Voice' Recap: Blind Auditions Part 2

9/23/2015 9:36am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: Familiar Faces Are Here Again
Gwen Stefani isn't the only person who came back to The Voice. Tuesday's next round of blind auditions included a singer who didn't make the cut in this spring's season eight, as well as the return of a device fans talk about every year: the montage sequence. Here's what happened during the second episode of season 9.

There were three more four-chair turns on Tuesday, starting right at the top of the show with a gentleman who goes by Blind Joe. That's not just a stage name; he's actually blind. After the sheer shock passes over our coaches, Joe joins Team Blake.

You ought to recognize the...

'The Voice' Season 9 Premiere: Blind Auditions Begin

9/22/2015 10:33am EDT
'The Voice' Recap: Three Four-Chair Auditions In Season 9 Premie
The Voice returned on Monday for the ninth (?!) season of the singing competition, just one day after it won two more Emmy Awards, including its second trophy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program. It seems like the show is picking up steam, with the season nine premiere being business as usual for Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams.

Longtime viewers know the show never starts its blind auditions off with anything less than the best, so after the coach medley it's no surprise that opening singer Mark Hood turns all four chairs. Despite saying beforehand he...

9/21/2015 12:06pm EDT
'The Voice': Adam Levine & Gwen Stefani Talk Season 9
The Voice premieres tonight on NBC, with more of Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani (pictured above with Season 9 advisor Selena Gomez). Both Adam and Gwen spoke with Starpulse recently about their experience on the singing competition so far; plus Gwen told us how she thought she might be at a gender disadvantage during this season's blind auditions.

Adam is returning for his ninth season as a coach, and obviously that comes with a certain advantage. "I think I've gotten better at it because I've been doing it a long time," he told us. "It's a skill, it's a really weird skill that I think was k...

Expect A Big Surprise On The Season Premiere Of 'The Voice'

9/20/2015 4:00pm EDT
The Voice
NBC's The Voice usually has one or two good surprises during the singing competition's blind audition round - but in the upcoming Season 9, the network is teasing an audition as "the most shocking reveal on The Voice yet."

Those are strong words, especially on a show that's had a few curveballs over the last five years. We've seen singers mistaken for the opposite gender, solo artists confused for duos, newbies who've gone on to win the whole show, and Pharrell Williams told us in our recent interview that he originally thought Season 8 champ Sawyer Fredericks was an older African-American...

'The Voice': Pharrell Williams & Blake Shelton Talk Season 9
A new season of The Voice is just around the corner, which means more of Pharrell Williams (pictured here with Season 9 advisor Missy Elliott) and Blake Shelton. Starpulse visited with both Pharrell and Blake recently to find out what they could tell us about the season ahead.

"The last thing I would expect is that we would be nine seasons in five years later," Blake told us. "I can't believe how many of these things that we do, it's crazy. Two a year and we're actually filming three a year, but you know what? It's so much fun. It does take up a lot of time but when you're actually in ther...

Gwen Stefani recently revealed a drastic new hairstyle, but there may be something even bigger in her life these days -- a new romance.

"The Voice" co-stars Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are both going through very public divorces, and the two are reportedly leaning on one another while filming the new season of the competition series.

An insider told Radar Online: "Gwen and Blake have a lot to bond over right now and they are really being there for each other through this."

Last month, Shelton and Miranda Lambert revealed they had divorced after four years of marriage. They had a pre-nup in place, so they dissolved their marriage rather quickly. Reports surfaced that Lambert had cheated on the country star.

Sawyer Fredericks After 'The Voice': What's Next For The Winner
Congratulations, you've just won The what? That's the question in front of teenage folk singing phenom Sawyer Fredericks, who took home the title for Team Pharrell last week and now has a whole (hopefully long) career in front of him.

Sawyer took time out of his increasingly busy schedule to chat with us last week about his reaction to winning and what we should expect to hear from him in the future. But firstly, has what just happened even sunk in yet?

"I don't think it fully has," he laughed. "I think once I have a little bit of downtime, it will."

Although his fellow final...

"It feels really good to be back," she told us. "I slept in my bed last night and I feel like I'm coming out on the other side of all this and it's starting to sink in.

Joshua Davis After 'The Voice': 'I'm Excited About The Future'
Our The Voice exit interviews continue today with Joshua Davis, the singer-songwriter from Team Adam who came in third during last Tuesday's finale. He might not have won, but he did leave a great impression on national audiences and remains one of the show's most endearing artists.

"I was not surprised at all," he said of the final results when we caught up with him back home in Michigan. "I think we all knew for weeks that Sawyer [Fredericks] was going to be the one.

"The whole thing was just a big win for me, to be honest," Joshua continued. "I never thought I'd make it past the blinds...

We know you're bummed that The Voice is over, so this week we sat down with all four of your finalists for one last conversation about season 8. First up is Team Pharrell's spirited pop singer and fourth place finisher, Koryn Hawthorne.

"This has been an amazing journey and an amazing ride," Koryn told us in our exit interview, "and I'm so thankful to be a part of just the Voice legacy."

While the audience at home waited to find out who would be named the winner last Tuesday, she might have been the calmest finalist in the history of the show.

"I didn't really think about it too much," s...
