'Lost' Delivers In Final Season Premiere

2/3/2010 9:00pm EST
LOST theories, LOST recaps, LOST, Evangeline Lilly, Matthew Fox,
The most anticipated television return has finally come and gone: "LOST" is back! On a personal note, my Facebook friends page and Twitter went wild with people screaming about "LOST" for the entire day, and that's how it should be. This is such an interactive show, with the fans all excitedly making parties and discussing for hours what everything really means. The "Lost Experience" proved how fanatic the viewers were to take clues and run with them, and no matter how much "LOST" abuses us with more questions and confusion, there's an addictive quality that cannot be denied. This is the la...

'V' Is Very Promising But Won't Be Back Till March 2010

11/25/2009 4:55pm EST
It still makes absolutely no sense that ABC is holding back the rest of "V" until next year, but that's what we have to deal with. This week's was the last until March, and it'll be shocking if the full audience manages to carry over four months later. Is ABC playing a FOX game now and making sure sci-fi shows will be canceled? It's just bizarre. Well in any case this episode left it on a somewhat cliffhanger so those already invested in "V" will be back, but was it enough?

Erica is suspicious of Ryan right off the bat when they have a secret meeting about the V's, and Georgie protects h...

'V' Recap: 'A Bright New Day'

11/19/2009 8:15am EST
The fact that there is only one more "V" episode left in 2009 is depressing, because after this week's episode of "V," all I want is more more more. They really are doing an excellent job with pacing and upping the ante for the story each week. Whether or not the viewers will move with them after such a long break (past the Olympics next year apparently) remains to be seen.

Now that the USA has agreed to ally with the V's, they are able to get visas and wander the streets if they want to. Anna is the very first to get her visa, and she starts to plot a way to move the anti-V sentiment on...

The Visitors Are Everywhere In Latest Episode Of 'V'

11/11/2009 12:53pm EST
As you might expect, the Visitors on "V" are not too happy with FBI Agent Eric or Hot Priest Jack at the moment. The second episode of "V" starts out just as the last one ends, with Erica and Father Hotness (this will be his name from now on) trying to run away from the V's that come to the secret meeting warehouse. Erica tries to place a 911 call to get police to the scene, but the V's intercept her call and send one of those weird robot drones after them. Erica wisely smashes it with a baseball bat, and the two agree to trust no one. Whoa. Where's Fox Mulder when you need him?

Now that...

Everything Geeky: Sci-Fi Shows You May Have Missed

11/4/2009 2:50pm EST
After watching the premiere of "V" last night, I was starting to wonder if Sci-Fi is going to make a real comeback into the spotlight. Let's face it, the popularity of this genre has risen in the past few years. It is no longer just the diehard Trekkies that care about Spock and Kirk, but the newcomers swarming after J.J. Abrams' reboot.

With shows like "Lost" and "Heroes" gaining notice on major television networks and the critical acclaim of "Battlestar Galactica," the stereotypes of typical "sci-fi nerds" is starting to wear off. In its place are people who never cared about phasers ...

'V' Recap:'The Visitors Are Here'

11/4/2009 12:11pm EST
ABC's "V" is finally here, one of the most highly anticipated shows of the season, and it is coming out strong. The show is a remake of a sci-fi miniseries that lost a great deal of its popularity once it turned into a regular TV show. It looks like ABC hopes to reboot and renew the fanbase, so everyone who loves Nazi-like reptile aliens with a secret plan to take over the Earth ... be prepared. The Visitors are here.

It is a quiet normal day on Earth. FBI Agent Erica (aka Juliet from "Lost") wakes up to feel the world shaking a little, and she goes to check on her teenage son Tyler. ...

'V' Invades ABC This Week

11/3/2009 9:44am EST
V premieres this week on ABC but to TV viewers who were around 25 years ago, it feels a little like déjà vu. The original V series aired on NBC in 1984 with lizard aliens coming down to earth. The new version shows how we'd handle an alien invasion in a post-9/11 world.

"The original series, to me, felt very much like a military show almost," said exec. Producer Jeffrey Bell. "It was a resistance and gun fights, and there was a very clear and present enemy. They wore uniforms, and it was the Cold War. It was the Nazis, whoever it was. Post-9/11, that's not who our enemy is anymore. Th...

Pre-Season 2009 TV Report Card: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

9/21/2009 12:30pm EDT
Desperate Housewives
Since CNN has such a blast creating a report card to track the Presidency, we decided to have some fun with television. Which networks come out strong and which ones need to do better homework?

The Good: The dramas are what keep us coming back to ABC. Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, FlashForward, and V are worth looking forward to. The one comedy that stands out and may hold itself against NBC's stellar comedies, Modern Family, is worth a few episodes past the pilot.

The Bad: Dancing With The Stars is extremely popular, however sometimes too much of a ...

The Syfying Of Science Fiction Is Both Good & Bad

8/29/2009 2:00pm EDT
True Blood
Everyone seems really into vampires lately. Sexy vampires that have steamy vampire sex with each other all the time. If not vampires than it's people with psychic abilities (Psych) or people that travel through alternate dimensions. And that's just on television. These days a major blockbuster movie can't make a return without aliens (District 9), killer robots (Transformers) or wizards (Harry Potter). We live in a time where Quentin Tarantino is playing with alternate history (Inglourious Basterds) and weepy chick flicks are about time travel (The Time Traveler's Wife).

Science fiction ...

Best Film & TV About Alien Invasions

8/17/2009 2:39pm EDT
For centuries human beings have considered the world beyond Earth and wondered if there was life outside of what we know. There have been essays, books, movies, television, and plenty of conspiracy theories about the existence of aliens or extraterrestrial life.

In the past 50 years or so pop culture has been fascinated by this idea and what would happen if the alien nation found its way to our Earth. Would they be like Star Trek, some hostile and some friendly to humankind? Or would they be like Aliens and plan to tear the flesh off our bones?

With ABC bringing back a TV series abo...

Two Sci-Fi Shows We Can't Wait For This Fall: 'V' & 'FlashForward'

7/9/2009 10:08am EDT
Science fiction has taken somewhat of an upward turn in recent years, becoming attractive to more than the small cultish fan groups and growing to the universal mainstream.

With the success of shows like "Lost," "Fringe," "Heroes," "Battlestar Galactica" and "X-Files," sci-fi is steadily becoming worth investing in by the bigger networks.

Starting in the fall, ABC is releasing two new big sci-fi shows to the mainstream to see if we have a taste for it, and if you're any kind of sci-fi fan at all, these are the new shows you should be looking forward to.

Although an exact da...
