The Tudors actor was banned from flying with United Airlines after allegedly launching a drunken tirade at staff following a vodka binge while waiting for his flight.

He headed to rehab shortly after the incident to battle his ongoing alcohol problems, but Meyers' alleged outburst has come back to haunt him after United Airlines customer service director Kathryn Williams filed suit against the star earlier this month.

Henry Cavill had to Pass a 'Costume Test' to Play Superman

February 17th, 2011 11:15pm EST
Henry Cavill
British actor Henry Cavill had to pass the costume test before he won the role of Superman in Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder's new movie - he had to wear a replica of the outfit Christopher Reeve wore in 1978.

The producer and director had to make sure their pick for the Man of Steel looked the part - and insisted on putting him in the much-maligned suit Reeve's Superman wore.

Snyder tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "If you can put on that suit and pull it off, that's an awesome achievement."

The Tudors star Cavill admits he was worried about what he'd look like in the replica out...

Jonathan Rhys Meyers Heads To Rehab

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers
Jonathan Rhys Meyers is seeking treatment for an alleged alcohol addiction, according to reports. The Tudors star is said to have struggled to maintain his sobriety since a 2005 stint in a clinic to address personal issues.

In 2007, he ran into trouble with police at an airport in Dublin, Ireland, where he was arrested and charged with being drunk and disorderly. The charges were later dropped. He once again caused a stir in Paris' Charles De Gaulle airport last year after allegedly assaulting an employee while drunk. And earlier this week, Meyers was reportedly banned from a U.S. flight ...

Everything Geeky: Onscreen Inaccuracy - Necessary or Needless?

June 30th, 2009 11:34am EDT
The Tudors
I was recently flipping through channels on a quiet Sunday evening when the new show "Merlin" caught my eye. It was originally a British TV drama that did fairly well and premiered in the US on June 21. So far it's viewership isn't too bad and they even got a second season, but seriously? It's terrible. It's terrible in that awesome way where the plots are silly and the acting is somewhat ridiculous, but yet you can't help but keep watching. It has a certain badly budgeted charm that is a reminder of "Hercules: The Legendary Journey" and "Xena: Warrior Princess." Only it's lighter, fluffier...

What's New On Showtime?

Nurse Jackie
Showtime has been around for a few decades, but for some time it never quite managed real competition against its rival, HBO. Things have changed. In the past few years it has definitely blossomed with movies, both famous and independent, and quality television programming.

Past popular shows "The L Word" and "Queer As Folk" paved the way for current programming like "Dexter," "Weeds," and "The Tudors." So what's up for Showtime this year? Let's take a look!

Premiering on Monday, June 8 at 10:30 PM, "Nurse Jackie" stars Edie Falco as the title character. Exhaust...

Showtime's 'The Tudors' Is Back

April 6th, 2009 4:22pm EDT
The Tudors
Aaaaand we're back! Season 3 of Showtime's The Tudors started with more of a whimper than a bang, as the debatably most interesting period in Henry VII's rule (the Boleyn years) ended last season with poor, delicious Anne losing her head. Now we move into a decidedly slower, stodgier era, with the marriage of Henry to sweet, simple Jane Seymour, and the eventual birth of the King's long-awaited heir, Edward.

The season premiere confirmed the classier direction the show is taking; gone are the hallmark gratuitous sex and fluffy costume-porn filler scenes of the racy first season, and he...

What To Watch In March? Spotlight On Mid-Season Shows

March 4th, 2009 9:37am EST
Cupid
Once upon a time in a magical land called Hollywood, harried and somewhat unkempt writers bit their nails down to the quick awaiting news on if their pilots would receive full season orders, be given solid "Nos," or worse: be relegated to the limbo that is "mid-season replacement" territory.

Such shows aren't guaranteed to air at all, particularly if the initial fall line-up (the shows that network executives felt had the most potential) succeeds. And if mid-season shows do get a shot after premature cancellations, there is no guarantee they will find an audience, considering so many ...

Why I Don't Feel Guilty About Loving 'The Tudors'

January 20th, 2009 10:00am EST
The Tudors
Why on Earth do I love Showtime's The Tudors so much, anyway? On the surface, this show has all the earmarks of the guiltiest of guilty pleasures: over-the-top costumes, fiery political intrigue, loads of violence, and plenty of, um, bodice-ripping. And I can't get enough of it. Perhaps it's because the steamy historical soap is unique, in that it has the odd ability to entertain the hell out of me even while it takes ridiculous, impossible liberties with history, characterization, and plot. Usually I get all bent out of shape when a movie or TV show portrays an event or people in ways that...

HBO Vs. Showtime

Big Love
An average TV viewer has hundreds of options to watch on any given time slot, so if he or she chooses to pay extra money for a special channel, it better deliver on what it promises. HBO and Showtime are two channels that offer movies - both new and old - and quality television programming. Usually the shows are inappropriate for regular cable, and they are given more freedom to be daring, innovative, and crude.

HBO has been showing new movies and producing popular television since 1977, while Showtime focused more on boxing championships and premiering impressive short independent fi...

Summer TV Preview: Forget the Beach, Cable Is The Place To Be

May 30th, 2008 8:30am EDT
Law and Order CI
While the cable networks still lag far behind the broadcast networks in the ratings department (well, four of them anyway), they have made great strides in terms of matching, and often times exceeding, the big dogs when it comes to quality original programming.

At no time of the year is this trend more evident than in the summer. While the broadcast networks are unsurprisingly going with a bevy of unscripted fare (including entirely too many reality competition shows), the cable networks are once again proving to be the place to turn for quality, original, SCRIPTED programming.

How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30 p.m.) - The Mother or not the Mother? That is the question when Ted finds himself reevaluating his relationship with Stella after a car accident in tonig...

The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS, 9:31 p.m.) - Jury's still out on whether the Seinfeld curse has infected Julia Louis-Dreyfus - her show has yet to be renewed - so she better hope reuniting with Jason Alexander (as her gynecologist!) in tonight's season finale does more good than bad.
