A Few Minutes With... 'Touch' Star David Mazouz

3/1/2013 9:00am EST
FOX's Touch is in its second season - and at the heart of the sprawling drama is the mute but extraordinarily gifted Jake Bohm, played by David Mazouz. BFTV recently checked in with David to find out what he's enjoyed about season two so far, and what it's like for him to inhabit a character who never speaks.

"I get really excited when I'm reading the scripts," said the young actor, who took his first acting classes at age five and landed his first movie at age eight. When it comes to season two of Touch, David's interest is piqued by the developing bond between Jake and his father Martin,...

'Major Crimes' Vet Ransford Doherty Guest Stars on 'Touch'

2/8/2013 10:40am EST
Ransford Doherty
Tonight's Touch premiere features a guest appearance by Ransford Doherty, best known as Kendall on TNT's Major Crimes. BFTV caught up with Ransford before tonight's premiere to chat about his acting roles - and his other commitment to children as a substitute teacher.

"Coming from a Sierra Leone, West African family, being an actor is not the typical career path one chooses," Ransford said. "In fact, my initial major at Longwood College was Political Science, but my heart wasn’t in it.  My counselor then suggested that I pick something that I would actually enjoy learning, so I decided to ...

'Alcatraz' Kaput!

5/10/2012 8:36am EDT
J.J. Abrams' prison drama Alcatraz has been axed after just one season on air.

The show, starring Sam Neill and Lost's Jorge Garcia, was based around San Francisco's legendary Alcatraz prison and focused on the mysterious reappearance of prisoners and guards who vanished from the island jail in the 1960s.

Nevertheless, fans won't get to see a second season after bosses at the Fox network pulled the plug on the show this week.

Fox chiefs have also axed Bones spin-off The Finder, but they renewed Kiefer Sutherland's TV drama Touch for a second series, according to

'Touch' Recap: 'Safety In Numbers' Saves A Few Lives

3/30/2012 1:14am EDT
So far, Touch is coming together pretty nicely, with its intriguing pilot and solid second episode. This third one begins with Martin getting a call from the board and care facility, and he shows up much to the annoyance of Clea, who warns him to be careful. Both of them are surprised to find that Jake has escaped from his room again, and he's writing a new number: 3287.

As Clea's leading him back to his room, Jake slips a clipping of a dragon with the number on it into his father's jacket. Martin takes the number to our wise old guy, Teller (Danny Glover), who warns him to keep h...

TV Ratings: 'NCIS' Tops, 'Mad Men' Sets Record

3/29/2012 10:10am EDT
Mad Men
The return of fresh episodes of ‘NCIS’ vaulted CBS to the top of the ratings heap this week, but every network had something to cheer about. For the first time in who knows how long, each network had at least one show in the Top 7. You might guess that NBC’s top entry was ‘The Voice.’

FOX, of course, had two editions of ‘American Idol’ in the Top 5, and the return of ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ while down from the last installment, was the Number 2 program for the week. Its performance propelled ‘Castle’ into the Top 10. Likewise, FOX’s Kiefer Sutherland drama ‘Touch’ eked out a spot i...

'Touch' Recap: '1+1=3' Is Wrong Math, But Great TV

3/23/2012 1:04am EDT
It's been awhile since we saw the Touch pilot, but the show is finally here to stay and for my money, it's the best new show of this TV season.

"I'm not taking him back there," Martin tells Clea when she shows up at his apartment, wanting to take Jake back to the boarding facility. It's the very next day after the events of the pilot, and Martin is insistent that his son is trying to communicate with him. Yet when Clea threatens to call the police, Martin reconsiders. Before he leaves, Jake writes the phone number to Arnie's Pawn Shop on his father's hand, the last four digits of ...

TV Ratings: The Tale Of The Happy Networks

3/21/2012 9:38am EDT
Desperate Housewives
In any given TV week, a TV network could make it sound like they trumped everyone else, that they had something to be proud of. This week, all four major networks could actually mean it.

While the top shows were an also-ran (yep, ‘American Idol’ is perched on top, with ‘The Voice’ close behind and boasting its 18-49 demo), every network had a Top 20 show. NBC didn’t have one besides ‘The Voice,’ but every other network had multiple shows. And that doesn’t happen much these days.

FOX had both weekly editions of ‘American Idol’ as well as Keifer Sutherland’s ‘Touch' (Number 19); CBS had its...

'Touch' Recap: 'Pilot' (1.01)

1/26/2012 1:15am EST
Although it doesn't officially bow until March 19, FOX gave us an early look at the Kiefer Sutherland-led Touch tonight, and it was a glimpse at a series that could be something fantastic.

At face value, Martin Bohm couldn't be more different than Jack Bauer. He's an average, working-class guy interrupted from his work at JFK Airport so that he can get his mute son Jake down from a cell tower. Soon afterward, the number 318 starts popping up, whether it's on the back of a school bus, or on the knuckles of a random man in a convenience store (Titus Welliver, looking totally differen...

Q&A: Kiefer Sutherland Returns To TV In 'Touch'

1/25/2012 11:00am EST
He's leaving Jack Bauer behind (for now): Kiefer Sutherland is back on the FOX network, but it's with the new series Touch (which previews tonight). Here's what the 24 had to stay about stepping into another leading role.

Obviously, the first question is what about this made you want to come back to TV so soon after the end of 24?

It was funny. I was doing a play in New York on Broadway. I had a film that I knew I was going to go do and so I read Touch almost reluctantly. I don’t think I was completely ready to go back to television yet. I was enjoying some of the different opportunitie...

Kiefer Sutherland's New TV Drama Will Debut Globally

1/24/2012 9:17pm EST
Kiefer Sutherland
Kiefer Sutherland's new TV drama Touch will bring sci-fi fans around the world together - they'll be able to watch it at the same time.

The much-anticipated new show will preview in America on Wednesday but it will officially launch in March globally.

Sutherland, who has tasted international TV success as the star of 24, says, "We will put it out over the Internet. There will be all kinds of ways to view it and we will do a global launch.

"We'll be the first show, I think, to open kind of worldwide all at the same time, so we'll open in Europe, in Asia... in South America all at the same...
