The Bad: Dancing With The Stars is extremely popular, however sometimes too much of a ...

'American Idol' Mega Diary - A Blow By Blow Of Last Night's Event

May 21st, 2009 8:37am EDT
American Idol
Two hours, wall-to-wall performances, and the "American Idol" result all in one place? Sounds like the perfect opportunity for a mega diary.

8:00 - Wow, the graphics on the opening with the contestants' name look like they were the group final for a high school A/V class. It never ceases to be amazing how bad the graphics can look on something so prominent.

8:01 - Whose idea was it to dress them both in head-to-toe white? What is this? A Mormon baptism?

8:02 - Joely Fisher with baby: "Hey America, did you know "'Til Death" just got renewed again? Muahahahahaha."

TV Stars Who Deserve Emmy Nominations On July 17, Part 2

July 15th, 2008 10:42am EDT
Alec Baldwin - 30 Rock
Enough drama, time to laugh! The Emmy nominations are upon us, two days away in fact, so it's time to round out our suggestions to The Academy's blue ribbon panel. In the final installment, the focus turns to comedy and the actors who make us laugh every week.

This category is far more loaded than the drama section with far fewer obvious mistakes on the ballot and a ton of strong performances from the men and the women (rather than watching the ladies struggle with substandard material from their mostly male counterparts. Yes, I will clamor for more female writers and directors every...

Fox 2008-09 Schedule Is Solid, Surprisingly Straightforward

May 16th, 2008 12:03pm EDT
Eliza Dushku stars in Dollhouse
Usually this is the time of year when people are left scratching their heads, futilely trying to comprehend the four or five schedules that Fox has just unveiled for the upcoming season. This year, however, the folks at Fox have left the confusion of a year-round schedule to NBC, instead choosing to go with a much more conventional (and less headache inducing) Fall/Spring plan.

Fox has been doing fairly well recently, and it is safe to say that "American Idol" is no longer the only show keeping the network afloat (although it doesn't hurt, declining ratings and all). Therefore, it is...

What Killed 'Jezebel James': The Timeslot, Laughtrack & Parker Posey

March 26th, 2008 9:24am EDT
Jezebel James
I suppose Jezebel James only wanted to stay for a short return. After a mere three episodes, and ratings that made "Arrested Development" look like "American Idol," FOX dropped the ax on what was once its hotly-anticipated sitcom "Jezebel James."

At the network up fronts back in May 2007, "James" was highly lauded and seen by FOX as a potential tent-pole sitcom around which an entire evening of programming could be built. It seemed like a surefire hit when the series received a full 13-episode order right off the bat and was slated to debut in the coveted timeslot following "American ...

All The Elements Are In Place For 'Jezebel James' To Be A Quality Sitcom

March 18th, 2008 8:44am EDT
The Return of Jezebel James
"The Return of Jezebel James" debuted this week with a two-part premiere featuring the pilot and the series' second episode. FOX, in their infinite wisdom, chose to bury these first two installments in the abyss of the Friday night timeslot, which is really a shame as the series begins on a very strong note.

"James" is the return to television for Amy Sherman-Palladino. She is best as the auteur behind "Gilmore Girls". Previously she wrote for more conventional sitcoms including "Roseanne" and "Veronica's Closet." Her new show brings many of the elements from "Gilmore Girls" into th...
