'Suits' Recap: Harvey Confronts Mike - And Someone From His Past

July 17th, 2013 7:24am EDT
When last we left Suits, things went a little crazy, with Pearson Hardman becoming Pearson Darby, Mike and Rachel getting back together in explosive fashion, and Harvey and Jessica at odds. Guess what? Things are still crazy.

A partners' meeting is called in the middle of the night, much to Mike's confusion. "Are you afraid of the dark?" Harvey quips, before explaining that we (as in the two of them) are finalizing the terms of the merger between firms. He goes on to say there's "nothing to forgive" between him and Jessica, and that he thinks Mike "did what you needed to do," but somehow w...

9 Teases For Tonight's Season Premiere Of 'Suits'

July 16th, 2013 10:31am EDT
Season two of Suits elevated the USA legal drama from guilty pleasure to one of the best written shows on television thanks to its focus on internal struggles, as opposed to outside forces.

Now, in season three, the show looks to tackle both at the same time, as internal problems are caused by, instigated by and pushed forward by an outside force—with a British accent.

We’ve seen the season premiere and here are nine teases for tonight’s first new episode in a few months:

1. Two days have passed since the last episode.

2. Someone contemplates quitting the firm, while someone else wants ...

'Suits' Season 3: 5 Spoilers You Need To Know

July 15th, 2013 1:30pm EDT
Summer television is about to get much more stylish when the acclaimed USA series "Suits" returns for its third season on July 16.  When we last left the legal drama, Pierce & Associaties had merged with a British law firm, Harvey (Gabriel Macht) was betrayed by Mike and Jessica, and Mike confessed his epic secret to Rachel.  Here are five spoilers you need to know before the Tuesday's premiere on USA Network at 10pm EST...

Donna might finally get her man.  The firm's sassiest assistant just may fall for a dapper, handsome, successful lawyer...that's not Harvey Specter. Entertainment W...

TV Characters We'd Want As Our BFF

July 13th, 2013 10:03am EDT
King of the Hill
Countless scenes in FOX's King of the Hill showed Hank Hill and his three best friends standing around in the alley, drinking beer and talking about whatever they wanted to. It got us thinking: which TV characters would we want as our BFFs? Here's BFTV's list of the top 10 fictional folks we'd like to be best friends with.

Before you check out our picks, let us set them up for you with the rules of the game:

1) The King of the Hill test: is this character really someone you'd want to spend hours in the alley with?

2) No more than one character from the same TV series

3) No more than one...

'Suits' Recap and Review: 'War' (Season Finale)

February 21st, 2013 11:21pm EST
Why does Suits have to end already? It's clear that this is the best-written show on television, and in particular, it knows how to deliver endings with a legitimate bang. "War" is another solid closer that has us already waiting for season three.

Mike and Jessica are having a very tetchy conversation in her office. Anything that involves him saying "Harvey will never forgive me" isn't good. But Jessica snaps back that Mike's problem isn't with Harvey - it's with her.

Six nights earlier, the whole of Pearson Hardman is at one expensive party, along with the members of the British firm the...

'Suits' and 4 Other Unexpected Shows That Have Us Yelling At The TV

February 21st, 2013 9:30am EST
Tonight is the season finale of USA's Suits, which is the best show on television. There are so many reasons to love it, like compelling characters played to near-perfection by an ensemble cast, led by Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams. Then there are the plots. Courtroom drama has always been interesting to watch; that's how we sustained twenty seasons of NBC's Law & Order, after all. But Suits doesn't need to have court in session to be crackling. Whether a scene takes place in the halls of Pearson Hardman or on the streets of New York, it's good. So good, in fact, that we've caught ours...

'Suits' Recap: 'Normandy'

February 14th, 2013 11:10pm EST
In "Normandy," Suits continues its blast from the past, bringing back Dana "Scottie" Scott, Harvey Specter's former opponent and more-than-one-time flame. She's still got her eye on Harvey, but she's also still trying to beat him - and this time, she's brought reinforcements.

"We need to talk about resources," Harvey tells Jessica, wanting her to give him more resources to handle their 45 cases against Folsom Foods while she's dealing with a pile of bills. Seems the firm is in worse financial shape than he believed. Harvey's eyebrow ends up in the middle of his forehead. "We've got seven c...

'Suits' Recap: 'He's Back'

February 8th, 2013 9:15am EST
This week's Suits picks up with the bombshell from last week's episode - that Daniel Hardman has returned to be even more of a pain in everyone's behind.

As the show opens, he's taken over the gender discrimination class-action suit from Rachel's father Robert, deposing Sloane Moseley again, which irritates Harvey and Mike. Harvey gets even angrier when Hardman (still wonderfully, sleazily played by David Costabile) hands him a subpoena for a wrongful termination lawsuit against Pearson Hardman by Monica Eton, the woman Hardman was having an affair with while he was embezzling from the fir...

'Suits' Recap: 'Zane vs. Zane'

January 31st, 2013 11:05pm EST
With the first two episodes of Suits season 2.5 having addressed the major fallout at Pearson Hardman, it's time to dig back into the show's fantastic characters a bit more, starting with steely paralegal Rachel Zane.

Jessica interrupts Harvey and Mike's game of trash-can basketball to tell Harvey about the death of an opposing lawyer whom he describes as "a dick." When Harvey asks who's replacing the guy, the series abruptly cuts to Rachel having a birthday dinner with her father Robert (that's The Wire's Wendell Pierce), who informs her that he's taking over a gender discrimination case ...

'Suits' Recap: 'Blood in the Water'

January 24th, 2013 11:08pm EST
As audiences learned in last week's episode of Suits, things at Pearson Hardman are still very much in turmoil - so what better time than to re-introduce an old adversary?

Mike is starting to come around - at least he's cleaned up his apartment. At the firm, Donna meets Harvey at the elevators, pressing him for information about his date with Zoe. When she deduces said date didn't happen, she offers him ice cream, but Harvey is not amused. Donna moves on to tell him she has a meeting with somebody named Trent and also lets slip that Mike is not there yet, which irritates Harvey.

He goes t...

'Suits' Recap: 'Blind-Sided' (Midseason Premiere)

January 17th, 2013 11:30pm EST
With Thursday's midseason premiere, USA's Suits re-established why it is the best show on television - in fact, required viewing for anyone who loves TV.

Picking up a week after the midseason finale, "Blind-Sided" starts with Mike (Patrick J. Adams) still on emotional tilt, still getting high and still mixed up with his very much married old friend Tess (guest star Elisabeth Hower), the night before he's supposed to go back to work at Pearson Hardman.

The next morning, Harvey (Gabriel Macht) watches Daniel Hardman's name being scraped off the former managing partner's office wall, before ...

'Suits' Season 2.5: Sarah Rafferty Previews What's Next

January 17th, 2013 9:00am EST
Sarah Rafferty
When you want to know something in the office, you go to the assistants - and when you want to know something at Pearson Hardman, you ask Donna Paulsen. The fabulous Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna on USA's hit series Suits, shared a little dish with me about what's coming up in the remaining half-dozen episodes of the second season - and if we're ever going to learn about Donna's love life.

(SPOILER ALERT - This interview contains some details about the next six episodes of Suits' second season.)

"It's exciting because you sort of have the opportunity to enjoy two premieres," said Sarah ...

'Suits' Season 2.5: Why It's Still The Best Show on Television (Editorial)

January 16th, 2013 12:10pm EST
With its return, USA's Suits remains the best series on television - and one of the best ever.

There are a lot of great TV series on the airwaves today: FX's Justified, AMC's Breaking Bad, HBO's The Newsroom, just to name a few. Scripted television now is better than it's been in years if not decades. This is not to take away from the success of many other wonderful shows. Yet Suits is as close to a perfect TV series as one can possibly get. It's a series that works in nearly every aspect. Shows like Suits are why I became a TV journalist: because not only is it great entertainment, but it...

'Suits' Season 2.5: The Cast Speaks Out

January 15th, 2013 9:00am EST
Suits 2.5
Audiences are just days from the return of USA's hit series Suits, and the actors are just as excited as the fans. At Monday night's 'An Evening with Suits' event at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles, BFTV caught up with the cast to ask them what they love most about the show - and what they've enjoyed about the remaining six episodes of season two.

For Rick Hoffman, who plays everyone's favorite semi-antagonist Louis Litt, the joy of the role comes from the continued growth of his character. "I think the longer you get to go on a show, the more time you have to let a character evo...

- Brittany Frederick's 10 in 2012 -

'Suits' Recap: 'High Noon' (2.10; Summer Finale)

August 23rd, 2012 11:12pm EDT
"High Noon" is the appropriately titled Suits summer finale, and for some reason, that makes me want to throw things. Rare is the TV show that's so good, its absence is a reason to be disgruntled. After ten episodes of setting up all the dominoes, "High Noon" knocks them down perfectly.

We begin as the partners are casting their votes for managing partner, while Jessica and Hardman wait anxiously outside for the results. Louis is still deciding who to vote for while if looks could kill, Harvey's would. Elsewhere in the firm, Jessica wants to know why Mike is at work the day after...

'Suits' Recap: 'Asterisk' (2.09)

August 16th, 2012 11:13pm EDT
Can you believe that Suits is heading for its summer finale already? With a partner battle brewing, the show pushes everything to a head with a few little gems for the fans along the way and one heartbreaking ending.

Harvey is still psuedo-stalking Donna, this time allegedly to bring her a bonus check that she doesn't want. She's still angry with him, especially when he gives her the mother of all puppy dog faces. "I am not in love with you, Harvey. I love you like a brother or a cousin," she tells him. "I told her I can't be me without you," he retorts, which A) is a lie and B...

Sarah Rafferty: Meet TV's Top (and Most-Talked About) Assistant

August 16th, 2012 11:15am EDT
Sarah Rafferty
They say you never know what you've got until it's gone. That could apply to USA's Suits: ever since complex, sassy and deeply loyal assistant Donna Paulsen was fired from Pearson Hardman, the audience has been up in arms and the series hasn't been the same. It's not hard to see why Donna has captured the hearts of Suits fans and fans of good TV alike.

She's played by Sarah Rafferty, one of television's top actresses.

The role of Donna has brought plenty of deserved attention for the veteran actress. It's the part that many women would kill for: a great wardrobe, plenty of sharp dial...

'Suits' Recap and Review: 'Rewind' (2.08)

August 9th, 2012 11:19pm EDT
Suits takes its story backwards in order to go forward this week, and it fits like the missing piece to a fantastic puzzle, giving us further insight into the characters and one line that we've waited what seems like forever to hear.

The episode starts in the present time, with Mike making Ferris Bueller's Day Off references when he meets Harvey to discuss something they're going to do that Jessica can't find out about. When Mike asks if what they're going to do will cross a line, "We've been crossing lines before we even ever met," Harvey tells him, before getting on a train....

'Suits' Recap and Review: 'Sucker Punch' (2.07)

August 2nd, 2012 11:19pm EDT
An interesting thing happened while I was watching this week's Suits: I realized that I knew what was going to happen and that I didn't care, because I was so invested in what was going on that the experience of it was what mattered. Here's a show where predictability isn't a sign of weakness, but a position of strength because the characters and storylines are intriguing enough to keep us thinking about them, talking about them, and wanting to figure them out.

From the jump, Harvey is at the throat of Travis Tanner (Eric Close), whose idea of a deposition is to take every low s...

10 Great TV Shows You're Not Watching

July 29th, 2012 12:00pm EDT
This is my viewpoint, from the far end of the couch...and this week Starpulse has asked me to give you 10 outstanding TV shows that you're not yet loving, but you will.

With so many channels it's no wonder that a lot of great shows either slip through the cracks or don't get as much attention as they deserve. To help you find the series you might not know, I've compiled this handy list of programs you can check out right now.

My only criteria? They must be currently airing and able for you to tune into right now, be it first-run or repeats. (Therefore, cancelled shows are not eliglible, a...

'Suits' Recap: 'All In' (2.06)

July 26th, 2012 11:10pm EDT
Suits did a fantastic job of riling up its fans with last week's jaw-dropping episode. How does it follow that up? By continuing to push its characters and adding in a few outstanding guest stars as a bonus.

Harvey is understandably not coping with the loss of his best friend well, as he adjusts to having to answer his office phone himself and decides to drag Mike involuntarily to Atlantic City, where Mike was smoking weed and counting cards in his past life. (Atlantic City was also the site of major events in tonight's Burn Notice, in an interesting coincidence.) Harvey's ther...

'Suits' Recap: 'Break Point' (2.05)

July 19th, 2012 11:13pm EDT
This week's Suits has some nasty fallout for Donna over the memorandum that wasn't but actually was - and Mike heads back to the courtroom with another chance to prove himself. What we learn is that this phenomenal show has an irreplaceable cast.

Harvey's approached by an acquaintance about a 16-year-old tennis phenom that he's trying to sign. Seems the kid's father is in the way of his professional aspirations, so the kid wants to be legally emancipated. Therefore, you bring in Harvey Specter, who represents Michael Jordan. "You may not have set out to raise a prodigy, but fac...

'Suits' Recap and Review: 'Meet the New Boss' (2.03)

June 28th, 2012 11:11pm EDT
The deconstruction of Suits continues in this week's episode, where we really start to see the nefarious (I can think of no better word) Daniel Hardman make moves within the firm that bears his name and the show is bolstered by a top-flight guest star. It's another week where USA's top original series continues to take chances, and that so far has been a winning formula.

Mike gets home to find his grandmother sitting on his couch, and realizes that he missed a planned dinner with her. She quips that he doesn't care about her, and he retorts "That's why I put you in a home." Tou...

'Childrens Hospital' Star Erinn Hayes Previews New Flick 'It's A Disaster'

June 26th, 2012 12:00pm EDT
Erinn Hayes
It's the end of the world and Erinn Hayes feels fine. The Childrens Hospital actress recently chatted with me prior to the LA Film Fest premiere of her new film It's A Disaster about armageddon, her show and her upcoming guest role on USA's Suits.

In It's A Disaster, Hayes plays Emma, one of a group of couples who are forced to deal with their issues when what was supposed to be a normal get-together is derailed by the possible end of the world. It's not your typical relationship flick. The dark comedy is written and directed by Todd Berger, and also stars Julia Stiles (Save The Last Dance...

'Suits' Recap and Review: 'The Choice' (2.02)

June 21st, 2012 8:00pm EDT
Following the exemplary Suits premiere, things are uncomfortable at Pearson Hardman. No one knows that better than Jessica, who has an awkward conversation with an overeager Mike in the elevator, then arrives to find the office being renovated because Hardman's decided to redecorate in preparation for his return as managing partner. To Jessica, this breach of territory is "an act of war."

Meanwhile, we get a slo-mo shot of Rachel as Mike stares openly at her before trying to convince her that he wasn't blowing her off. When he can't form words, she kisses him again instead, but still lea...

Q&A: 'Suits' Star Gabriel Macht Previews Season 2

June 15th, 2012 9:00am EDT
Can't get enough after last night's Suits season premiere? Star Gabriel Macht recently talked with me and let me in on a few things we can look forward to during the show's sophomore run.

When I last spoke with Gabriel before the end of season one, one of the things we discussed was his return to television after being primarily a film actor; his previous TV leading role was The Others way back in 2000. Now that he's got season one of Suits behind him, he said it's gotten easier.

"I think like any character, the more you play him and the more you learn about him the deeper you can get i...

'Suits' Recap and Review: 'She Knows' (2.01)

June 14th, 2012 10:35pm EDT
Suits left us with a near-perfect season finale. It's a difficult act to follow up a great episode - but damned if this show doesn't come back with an equally fantastic second-season premiere.

As we rejoin Mike, he's nervous as hell because he's been invited to dinner by Jessica. He's convinced that means she knows his secret, until Harvey tells him that each of the last five senior partners was taken to dinner by Jessica when they were first-year associates. "We can discuss the prom at recess," Harvey adds, more interested in a pending merger he's working on.

Flash-forward: Mik...

Why 'Suits' Is My Favorite Summer Series

June 14th, 2012 8:00am EDT
Yes, this is another column about Suits. I've written several of them over the past week. Yet I still feel like writing another one. That's what happens when a show is ridiculously good.

As a TV writer, I'm constantly trying to feed an addiction. I'm looking for the next show, hopefully more than one, that's going to excite me so much that I absolutely have to watch it live. Even if it means rearranging my schedule or skipping a night out. Maybe it's because I've been doing this awhile now, but despite there being more channels than ever before, there are less shows that move me like tha...
