Is There A 'Strike Back' Movie In The Works?

10/18/2015 2:30pm EDT
Could A 'Strike Back' Movie Happen?
Strike Back is barely off our small screens and the movie talk has already begun. Prior to the Oct. 9 series finale, Entertainment Weekly reported that production company Left Bank Pictures is trying to develop a feature film continuation of our favorite action series.

According to EW, Left Bank has a deal with Sky - Strike Back's British broadcaster - for a potential movie. Cinemax, which co-produced the show for the US, is not yet involved and nothing has been confirmed.

But the expectation is that stars Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester, currently starring on NBC's Blindspot and...

'Strike Back' Series Finale Recap And Review: Disgruntled Establ
Friday's Strike Back series finale marked the end of the greatest action series of all time, and one of TV's greatest dramatic series of all time. After four seasons of more trauma and more action than should be humanly possible, Damien Scott and Michael Stonebridge finally hung it up. But what did they have to do to get there? And was it as satisfying for the fans as it was for them? Well, it's been one heck of a journey.

The action resumes in the immediate aftermath of last week's helicopter crash, with Stonebridge sporting yet another head wound and Scott wondering how every time he dri...

Sullivan Stapleton: From 'Strike Back' To 'Blindspot' And Still
Today is a difficult day as we brace ourselves for the series finale of Strike Back, which comes to an end after a tremendous run on Cinemax. TV is about to lose a show the likes of which it may not see again.

But making things easier for us is Sullivan Stapleton, who shined as Damien Scott on Strike Back and is now tearing it up as Kurt Weller on NBC's Blindspot, and who joined Starpulse earlier this season to talk about what it was like for him to say goodbye to our favorite former Delta Force operative and move on to the FBI.

"It was sad," he said of finishing Strike Back, which wrappe...

Shows Like 'Strike Back' Only Come Around Once In A While

The Legacy Of 'Strike Back': Will We Ever See Another Show Like
Cinemax's Strike Back is ending in just two days, and that's big news not just for fans of the show, but for anyone who enjoys television and wants it to be better. Shows this good only come around once in a while, and it may be a long time before we ever see a series like this again. In honor of its conclusion, we look back at what made Strike Back better than all the rest, and why it will be such a hard act to follow.

The action genre in both television and film has acquired, not entirely without merit, a certain prejudice. Many audiences believe that an action project can't have the sam...

Would You Watch One Of These 'Strike Back' Spin-Off Potentials?

10/6/2015 12:10pm EDT
'Strike Back' Spin-Offs That Would Be A Good Idea
The series finale of Strike Back is just days away, so what better time to talk about spin-offs? While we may not see Scott and Stonebridge for a while (thanks to Blindspot and The Player), the Cinemax series has given us over the years tons of memorable characters played by a remarkable cast of supporting and guest actors.

So if we could do anything we wanted (and ignore the fact that a lot of these characters are dead), here are five concepts for Strike Back spin-offs that we think would be worth tuning into. In no particular order:

Faber and Mason: Faber (Dustin Clare) and Mason (Leo G...

'Strike Back' Recap: Battle Over The Bomb

'Strike Back' Recap And Review: 'Episode 39' - Battle Over The B
The end of Strike Back is just one week away, meaning there's no time left for Stonebridge and Scott to keep the North Koreans from unleashing their devastating nuclear weapon on Korea. Can the heroes of Section 20 prevent a massive disaster and the start of a third world war? Well, it is what they're pretty good at.

The action opens with a massive armed response, because Li-Na's plan is already in motion. She's using the podium at the United Nations to give her big speech, having stormed in and killed every security officer between it and her. "Today we bring the true horror of nuclear ca...

'Strike Back' Recap And Review: 'Episode 38' - All About That Bo
With Li-Na and Kwon one step ahead of them following the bank heist in Vienna, Michael Stonebridge and Damien Scott need to get back in the game. This week's episode of Strike Back sees our Section 20 heroes picking up exactly where the last left off, but the results aren't grand. Then again, that just gives us more to look forward to as the end closes in.

Not the type of men to just stand there while the bad guys get away, Stonebridge and Scott use some hardware of their own to crack the bank's sealed doors. This gets them underground and soon chasing down their adversaries via motorcycle...

'Strike Back' Recap And Review: 'Episode 37' - Tough Homecoming
Just four episodes of Strike Back remain, so it's time to get down to it. With everyone having fled North Korea at the end of last week, "Episode 37" takes the fight between Section 20 and Li-Na back to European soil, specifically Vienna. It also proves that banks are the least safe places to be on this show, and gives us one more reason to hate clowns. Don't worry, this will all make sense.

After Nina's (Tereza Srbova) asset clones the phone of Russian mob leader Myshkin (Alex Humes), who's working with the Koreans, the team is forced to get formal for a trip to the opera. But they're not...

Dustin Clare Gives Us Some 'Strike Back' Insight

'Strike Back': Dustin Clare Crashes Cinemax Season 4
Strike Back's Stonebridge and Scott got some competition this season, in the form of brash contractors Faber and Mason. The duo both helped and hindered Section 20 in Cinemax season 4, and they certainly left a big impression amongst the fans.

What was it like to step into Faber's interesting style and his Southern drawl? Starpulse spoke with actor Dustin Clare to find out about his character's unique development, and what it was like to shift from playing Gannicus in the Spartacus series to a very different kind of tough guy.

"I sort of looked at the role and thought what I don't want to...

'Strike Back' Recap And Review: 'Episode 36' - Prison Break
When we left the heroes of Strike Back two weeks ago, things were looking grim. As usual, they'd struck a huge blow for the world but at the price of themselves. This time, Michael Stonebridge, Damien Scott and Scott's son Finn have all been captured by the North Koreans, after the former two had been warned that if they were nabbed, they'd be on their own.

So how are they going to get themselves out of this one? The way they usually do - with toughness and more tenacity than the next guys in the room. Or foreign holding facility.

As Locke hears of Stonebridge and Scott's predicament than...

'Strike Back' Episode 35 Recap: It's All About Getting Even

8/29/2015 9:06am EDT
'Strike Back' Recap And Review: 'Episode 35' - Everyone's A Liab
Considering the heartbreaking way in which last week's episode ended, it's no surprise that this week's episode of Strike Back is all about getting even - and Section 20 isn't waiting for their opportunity. Scott and Stonebridge are taking the fight to the North Koreans, going behind enemy lines with the intent of burning everything to the ground. But have they finally gotten in over their heads?

"Episode 35" opens with our heroes in the back of a truck, in the middle of sneaking their way across the border. We step backward in time just enough to see Scott mourning his most recent loss, a...

Will Yun Lee Brings His Awesome Villain Talent To ‘Strike Back’ Tonight

8/28/2015 12:05pm EDT
Will Yun Lee Adds Even More Muscle To 'Strike Back'
When your central villain is played by Michelle Yeoh, the guy working opposite her had better be equally talented. Strike Back doubled down on the awesome villain casting when it hired Will Yun Lee, who joins the Cinemax drama tonight as Kwon, another agent from North Korea who will give Scott and Stonebridge even more to worry about.

We caught up with Will earlier this season to talk about his presence in an already action-packed show, what he took away from the experience, and how the action on Strike Back stacks up compared to working on projects like Hawaii Five-0 and The Wolverine.

'Strike Back': Michelle Lukes On Julia Richmond's Last Stand

'Strike Back': Michelle Lukes On Julia Richmond's Last Stand
Julia Richmond has long been at the heart of Cinemax's Strike Back, as the show's most well-known and longest tenured female character. But after last night's jaw-dropping plot twist after Richmond fought to thwart the North Koreans, things will never be the same again for the members of Section 20 or fans of the series.

Before the episode aired, Starpulse spoke to Richmond's portrayer Michelle Lukes about her character's arc in the final season, the relationship between Richmond and Scott (Sullivan Stapleton), and what it meant to her to hang up her dog tags.

SPOILER ALERT: If you have n...

'Strike Back' Recap : Section 20 Loses A Member

8/22/2015 9:02am EDT
'Strike Back' Recap And Review: 'Episode 34' - Section 20 Loses
Strike Back begins this week with the team broken up, so what better to do than break them down further? "Episode 34" pulls no punches, blows a few things up and shoots a few more, and it ends with what might be one of the show's most controversial moments. There's no shortage of things to be worked up about here, so let's not waste any time.

Michael Stonebridge is still where we left him, cursing up a storm and pinned down by Yakuza on Shiro's private island. He'd be screwed if not for Faber (Dustin Clare) and Mason (Leo Gregory), the not actually drug smugglers who reveal themselves to b...

'Strike Back' Recap: Storming The Beach

8/15/2015 9:02am EDT
Strike Back
Strike Back is one of those shows that's never satisfied (and therefore, always satisfying to the audience). It's always looking for the next big thing to do. So what's to be done after revealing an embedded North Korean spy played by one of the great actresses of her generation? How about launch an all-out assault on a private island?

That's exactly what happens in "Episode 33," while Scott tries his hand at parenting at the least opportune time possible and Stonebridge might be crazy. There's a lot to discuss this week.

Now that we all know she's evil, Li-Na is meeting with her contact ...

Milauna Jemai Jackson Talks On Her Courageous 'Strike Back' Role

'Strike Back': Milauna Jemai Jackson Returns For More Heroism
Those who say there aren't enough strong women on TV aren't watching Strike Back. The Cinemax series features two incredibly courageous, well-written and performed female leads in Julia Richmond, played by Michelle Lukes, and Kim Martinez, who is portrayed by the lovely and talented Milauna Jemai Jackson.

Cinemax season four marks Milauna's second as the tough-as-nails DEA agent Martinez, who's now become a long-term part of Section 20. Starpulse spoke with her recently about returning to her challenging role, and what it was like for her to say goodbye to the series that it feels like she...

Michelle Yeoh Is 'Strike Back's' Killer Woman
Strike Back notched a big one in the win column when it signed Michelle Yeoh for one of the major roles in its final season. From being a Bond girl in Tomorrow Never Dies to kicking butt in any number of films including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and its upcoming sequel, Michelle is one of the great actresses of her generation - and she has been a fantastic addition to the series.

Before last night's jaw-dropping second episode, Starpulse sat down with Michelle to talk with her about making her first-ever appearance on television with the role of Mei Foster, and what her thoughts were ...

'Strike Back' Recap: Hope You Weren't Acrophobic

8/8/2015 9:04am EDT
'Strike Back' Recap And Review: 'Episode 32' - Hope You Weren't
After last week's literally last-second rescue, Damien Scott and Michael Stonebridge have a lot of pieces to pick up in the second episode of Strike Back. "Episode 32" wastes no time in giving us some important details regarding the who and why of the most recent plot, mixes in some great performances by Max Beesley and Michelle Yeoh, and really puts an early jolt into the final season.

Naturally, we open in the immediate aftermath of the embassy bomb. Locke is alive, but a lot of other people aren't so lucky. He makes his way into the wreckage to find an unconscious but alive Robin Foster...

'Strike Back: Cinemax Season Three' Slams Into Blu-Ray And DVD

'Strike Back: Cinemax Season Three' Slams Into Blu-Ray And DVD
Getting a TV show to DVD isn't as easy as you'd think. So many great shows get underwhelming releases that don't do justice to the product they're preserving. That's never been the case with Cinemax's Strike Back, which has always had a home video release comparable to the high quality of the show. It's one of the best TV on DVD releases ever pressed, and that trend continues with Strike Back: Cinemax Season Three, which hits shelves today.

If you haven't seen Strike Back (which you should), you can jump into Cinemax season three without much difficulty. There are callbacks to events of pr...

'Strike Back' Recap And Review: 'Episode 31' - Kidnap And Rescue
Strike Back has been just about everywhere and tackled just about everything in its intense, in-your-face adventure to end all adventures. But now the clock is striking eleven, so it's time to take things as far as they will ever go. Enter "Episode 31," which sees Michael Stonebridge and Damien Scott tasked with recovering an ambassador's daughter - a seemingly straightforward mission with global consequences. Because it wouldn't be Strike Back if there weren't global consequences.

In Southern Thailand, Chloe Foster (Eliza Hope Bennett) wanders off from a beach party with a friend of hers,...

Michael J. Bassett: Meet 'Strike Back's' Master Of Action
On Cinemax's Strike Back, everyone knows that Michael Stonebridge and Damien Scott are the dynamic duo who save the world. But you might not be able to name the third man who is the master behind the scenes: series co-executive producer, director and writer Michael J. Bassett. While the characters are being heroes on-screen, he's doing the heavy lifting off it.

We spoke with Michael earlier this month to discuss the development of Strike Back's final season, which premieres tonight, as well as talk about what it was like for him to let go of the series that he helped shape into one of the ...

'Strike Back' Fans Won’t Be Disappointed By New Season

TV Review: 'Strike Back' Cinemax Season 4
Cinemax's Strike Back has set the bar interminably high for not just action series, but the whole of television. Therefore, expectations are deservedly ambitious when it comes to the show's fourth and final season on Cinemax (fifth overall), which premieres this Friday night. When you've been the best for years, you should be going out on a high note.

Fans won't be disappointed by the new season, which sends Sgts. Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) and Damien Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) to yet another new part of the world, setting its initial action in Asia. That's where Col. Locke (R...

'Strike Back's' Philip Winchester: Number One With A Bullet
Philip Winchester just spent four seasons saving the world; now he's on his way to conquering it. Next week, the most underrated actor on television returns for his final mission as Sergeant Michael Stonebridge in Cinemax's top-notch action thriller Strike Back, before becoming Las Vegas's most likely hero in NBC's The Player. How difficult was saying goodbye to Stonebridge? And does he feel like this is the turning point for a career that's been quietly exemplary for so long? We connected with him during the upfronts to talk about Section 20's last stand.

Strike Back has been Philip's pla...

'Strike Back' Flashback: Cinemax Season 3 Turns Up The Heat
We're two weeks away from the final season of Strike Back, and that means it's time for one last Flashback. Cinemax season three (season four overall) continued to improve the show for a number of reasons, and was basically the starting point for the series as we're about to rejoin it. It's rare to see a program that legitimately continues to top itself every single year, but Strike Back accomplished that in spades.

This season sees Lt. Col. Locke (Robson Green) officially take command of Section 20, which was a big plus for the series. Firstly, it's Robson Green. He knows the TV medium in...

Another 'Strike Back' Flashback In Anticipation Of The Season Premiere

'Strike Back' Flashback: Cinemax Season 2 Brings Change Of Comma
With just weeks to go before the final season premiere of Strike Back, we don't have enough time to take you through the entirety of Cinemax's second season (the show's third) - but that doesn't mean we don't have something to say about it. Let's look back at the sophomore engagement of Section 20 in our Cinemax season two Flashback.

Cinemax season two gives audiences a Section 20 on the edge of being decommissioned, following the loss of commanding officer Eleanor Grant and the reveal of her culpability in Operation Trojan Horse. Major Oliver Sinclair (an underrated Rhashan Stone) is doin...

'Strike Back' Flashback: The Downfall of the Trojan Horse, Part
Well, this is it, Strike Back fans. Picking up where last week left off, we've come to the end of Cinemax season one - the conclusion of the year that introduced us to Damien Scott and Michael Stonebridge, and took action-adventure television to a whole new level. In "Cinemax Season 1, Episode 10," it's Section 20 versus Latif one more time for all the marbles, and not everyone's going to like the way it turns out.

The episode opens exactly where the last one ended: with Grant and Latif coming face to face. She wants to shoot him, but Sinclair reminds her that there are still two suicide b...

'Strike Back' Flashback: The Downfall Of The Trojan Horse, Part
We're coming down to the home stretch, Strike Back fans. There are just two more episodes to go in our first-season retrospective as we dig into "Cinemax Season 1, Episode 9," which sees Scott and Stonebridge finally closing in on Latif while each of them has to deal with personal developments that they were not prepared for. Because life doesn't wait just because you're trying to save the world.

But this is really serious stuff we're dealing with now, as Latif is testing chemical weapons on human subjects, and Colonel Grant is concerned about the upcoming World Security Summit, which is o...

6/19/2015 12:07pm EDT
'Strike Back' Flashback: The Kosovo Hostage Crisis, Part 2
This week on Strike Back, Michael Stonebridge and Damien Scott are still trying to get themselves and a handful of hostages out of Kosovo, while we debate if there's finally a woman that Scott won't try to sleep with. So many questions, so little time, and so many bullets. So many, many bullets.

It's the morning after everyone's been captured, and Scott's having a moment with Dana, as much as one can have when you're being held prisoner. But then he and Stonebridge decide to use their downtime to interrogate Allen, their purported link to Latif. Allen insists that he's a double agent, and ...

This Week’s 'Strike Back' Flashback - The Kosovo Hostage Crisis

'Strike Back' Flashback: The Kosovo Hostage Crisis, Part 1
This week on Strike Back, Section 20 has gone from Darfur to Vienna, where their best laid plans are put aside after hearing that five European Union officials - including an MI6 agent with first-hand knowledge about Latif - have been taken by a local overlord who wants his cousin back in exchange.

So fundamentally, what we're looking at is another hostage situation, similar to the mission that just got Scott and Stonebridge both shot. Yeah, we have a good feeling about this.

Scott is exactly where we left him - entertaining female company - except this week, it's a woman named Marianna (...

When we left Strike Back at the end of "Cinemax Season 1, Episode 6," Damien Scott had taken a bullet and was being rushed to the nearest hospital, leaving the team's rescue mission in the hands of Michael Stonebridge, whom it was implied was aiming to get himself shot.

In the middle of all this were the villain from Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and the guy whose only crime was being nice to people. Needless to say, this is not your garden variety tale and this never was your garden variety show.
