'Strike Back' Flashback Recap

May 22nd, 2015 12:07pm EDT
'Strike Back' Flashback: Picking Up The Pieces, Part 2
In the conclusion to Strike Back's South African hacker arc, "Cinemax Season 1, Episode 4," everyone is left wondering about the fate of Damien Scott. Little do we know that it's not the new guy we should be worried about, as this is the episode that would put the audience on notice that this show would never be safe.

When we left off last episode, Scott was in a world of hurt at the hands of former IRA member Daniel Connelly (a superb Liam Cunningham) after impulsively making the decision to sub in for a hacker that Stonebridge had no choice but to shoot. The episode ended with Section 20...

'Strike Back' Flashback: Picking Up The Pieces, Part 1
Having survived the worst hotel stay ever, Michael Stonebridge and Damien Scott make their way to South Africa in Strike Back's "Cinemax Season 1, Episode 3," which starts a new arc that changes the Section 20 team permanently. You'd think it's a little early for such a shakeup, but they really don't screw around on this show.

Action opens with Stonebridge, Scott and Marshall looking to make up for the squad's previous mistake by staking out three suspects connected to Latif. Needless to say, Scott causes a problem - although this one really isn't his fault, as the guy he's standing next t...

'Strike Back' Stars Both Have NBC Pilots Ordered To Series
Here's some good news to start your weekend off with, if you're a TV fan: Strike Back stars Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton will both be leading new series that made it onto NBC's schedule for the 2015-2016 season.

NBC announced Friday that it had ordered a freshman season for Winchester's The Player, formerly known as Endgame. It's not a huge stretch for the actor (pictured above right, with Stapleton) as he goes from playing a military operative to a former military operative. His character, Alex King, gets drawn into a high-stakes conspiracy while also looking to avenge the dea...

'Strike Back' Weekly Flashback Look

May 8th, 2015 12:02pm EDT
'Strike Back' Flashback: The Worst Hotel Stay Ever, Part 2
In this week's Strike Back Flashback, we're discussing what Michael Stonebridge and Damien Scott did in the second part (here's part one) of their summer vacation. By 'vacation,' we mean 'terrorist attack,' and by 'did,' we're not talking about Scott's extracurricular activities. This is "Cinemax Season 1, Episode 2" and there is no time for that, kids.

Our heroes are still in the Royal Lotus Hotel, being held at gunpoint by the guy they thought was going to help them escape, who's interested in the woman Scott didn't sleep with. Stonebridge is more interested in the fact that Scott was ab...

Two For Two: 'Strike Back's' Philip Winchester Lands NBC Pilot
NBC is in the Strike Back way, as another pilot at the Peacock has just added another star of the Cinemax drama into its fold. Philip Winchester, who portrays Strike Back's Sgt. Michael Stonebridge, has been cast as the lead in NBC's pilot Endgame.

In Endgame - not to be confused with the Shawn Doyle-led mystery series of the same name - Winchester (pictured above left) will play another character with a connection to the military. Alex is a former military officer who now works as a security expert in Las Vegas.

According to a report from Deadline Hollywood, he "is drawn into a mysteriou...

Strike Back fans won't have to wait long to see where Sullivan Stapleton lands: the star has booked the leading role in NBC's drama pilot Blindspot.

After four seasons portraying Sgt. Damien Scott, Stapleton's next TV role will keep him on the side of the good guys: he's set as veteran FBI agent Kurt Weller, who's called in by the Bureau to investigate a Jane Doe with no memory - but who has his name written on her back.

Blindspot sees Stapleton playing against Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif in the Thor films and Marvel's Agents of SHIELD) as the mysterious woman. The pilot was written by Mar...

8 Potential Breakout Stars In Television
You know them: the actor who's really good at what they do, but for whatever reason, doesn't get as much attention as they deserve. Maybe they're on a show that doesn't have a huge audience. Maybe they get less screen time than their costars. Maybe they ought to have won several awards by now and they've never even been nominated. But you love watching them every week, and you just wish everyone else would give them more respect already.

The 2014-2015 TV season has quite a few of those actors, several of whom are poised to break through to bigger story arcs and wider acclaim. Whether they'...

Best Unknown Book To Screen Adaptations

September 6th, 2014 4:05pm EDT
High Fidelity
With the release of Innocence yesterday and the home video debut of A Long Way Down this Tuesday, it seems like we're in another phase where books are making their way to the big and small screens. Adaptations have long been a Hollywood staple, but it's not always obvious when a movie or TV show started life as a book. Many of the programs you've loved probably have an equally entertaining book behind them; you just haven't discovered it yet.

To that end, we've compiled this list of six great books that you might not know were behind six great film and television projects - in the hopes th...

'Strike Back': 6 Things Fans Should Watch Before Cinemax Season

Preview Tonight's 'Strike Back' Season 3 Finale!

October 18th, 2013 12:04pm EDT
Strike Back
Sadly, tonight marks the end of Season 3 of Strike Back. The Cinemax action-adventure series draws to a close this evening with a bang - or more like several bangs - as plenty of questions remain unanswered.

Will Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) and Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) be able to stop Al-Zuhari's plan before it's too late? Can Stonebridge get through the action in one piece? Will the questionable measures Section 20 must consider as time runs out cause a rift they can't recover from? Will Locke (Robson Green) survive so that we can keep enjoying his addition to the unit, or will he s...

'Strike Back' Star Philip Winchester Cast In 'Undrafted'

October 3rd, 2013 4:40pm EDT
Strike Back
He's one of our favorite action heroes on Strike Back - but now Philip Winchester is taking on a very different role, as he's landed a part in the independent feature film Undrafted.

Philip, who plays Michael Stonebridge in the Cinemax series, will appear as a baseball player in the flick, which is the directorial debut of actor Joe Mazzello (The Pacific, The Social Network).

Mazzello also penned the script, bringing to the screen the story of his brother, a successful college baseball player who - as the title implies - wasn't drafted into the major leagues. Suddenly, an intramural baseb...
