5 Best And 5 Worst Movie-To-TV Adaptations
A Beverly Hills Cop TV show seems like a sure-fire hit, especially with Eddie Murphy involved. However, it's not as easy as it seems to make a great film into a recurring TV series. Here are the 5 Best and 5 Worst Movie-To-TV Adaptations:
Best
The Odd Couple: Originally based on a play, the film (starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau) would be the fourth highest-grossing movie of 1968. The show would find similar success; the episode "Password" is ranked #5 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time. 'Stargate Atlantis' Movie Shelved 'Indefinitely'
A planned big screen adaption of Stargate Atlantis has been shelved "indefinitely" following the cancellation of sci-fi TV show Stargate Universe earlier this month.
The series, a spin-off from popular 1994 film Stargate, will come to an end in the spring, and the axing of the show appears to have put plans for a movie on hold.
TV show Stargate Atlantis aired from 2004 to 2009.
In a post on his blog, executive producer Joe Mallozzi reveals, "I'm sorry to say, but the cancellation puts the brakes on whatever progress the SGA movie had made in the past month.

Everything Geeky: Sci-Fi Shows You May Have Missed
After watching the premiere of "V" last night, I was starting to wonder if Sci-Fi is going to make a real comeback into the spotlight. Let's face it, the popularity of this genre has risen in the past few years. It is no longer just the diehard Trekkies that care about Spock and Kirk, but the newcomers swarming after J.J. Abrams' reboot.
With shows like "Lost" and "Heroes" gaining notice on major television networks and the critical acclaim of "Battlestar Galactica," the stereotypes of typical "sci-fi nerds" is starting to wear off. In its place are people who never cared about phasers ...

Best Film & TV About Alien Invasions
For centuries human beings have considered the world beyond Earth and wondered if there was life outside of what we know. There have been essays, books, movies, television, and plenty of conspiracy theories about the existence of aliens or extraterrestrial life.
In the past 50 years or so pop culture has been fascinated by this idea and what would happen if the alien nation found its way to our Earth. Would they be like Star Trek, some hostile and some friendly to humankind? Or would they be like Aliens and plan to tear the flesh off our bones?

READ MOREBest Space Movies
The subject of space is a difficult one in terms of selecting films. Qualifying elements are somewhat subjective. Does the film have to take place in space? Must it include aliens? Does a mere reference to space, or different planets, make it a "space" film? In short, is it merely a subgenre of science fiction? Space and science fiction, while not mutually exclusive, can occur without the other.

Big Screen To Little Screen: Some Series Shine Will Others Fail
Often we don’t realize that our favorite TV shows began as vehicles on the big screen. Many of television’s best programs started that way. Then again, so did some of the worst.
In 1974, Ellen Burstyn starred in the Oscar awarded Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. The movie was such a success that it was turned into “Alice,” complete with Vic Tayback as Mel. Unfortunately, it was Polly Holiday who made the sitcom a success. By the time she left the show and was replaced in 1980 by the original Flo, Diane Ladd, the damage had already been done. The series soon met its demise.
