Brittany's TCA 2011 Blog: FX - 'Louie,' 'Wilfred' & 'Justified'

Justified
The last day of the TCA (Television Critics Association) Winter/Spring 2011 press tour was the one I'd had circled on my calendar, because it was all about FX. I have really fallen in love with this network and the people behind it over the past year. They gave me the highlight of my trip: a panel devoted to one of my all-time favorite series (Justified), putting me in the same room with one of my all-time favorite actors (Timothy Olyphant). I'll geek out about that later, though. First, let's talk about what else the cable net has up its sleeve...

Parenthood
Throughout the Olympics, NBC has been heavily promoting their new show "Parenthood," which airs its first episode on March 2 at 10/9c. This premiere marks a return to form for the network (filling holes left by the Jay Leno mess) and the return of several familiar faces to primetime.

"Parenthood," based on the 1989 movie of the same name, is an hour-long dramedy featuring an ensemble cast led by Peter Krause of "Six Feet Under" and to a lesser extent "Dirty Sexy Money" fame and Lauren Graham in her first regular TV role since "Gilmore Girls" ended its seven year run in 2007. Highlights & Embarrassing Bits Of 'American Idol's' Season 9 Boston Auditions

January 13th, 2010 9:09am EST
American Idol
For "American Idol" fans, last night's premiere was nothing if not bittersweet. Sweet because after the long hiatus, "Idol" is finally back, bitter because last night was the last first time we'll ever see Simon Cowell again.

Luckily, we will be able to watch Simon, one last time, make the rounds through various cities and spitting snarky venom at various poor singers. It's a bit of car crash delight that comes but once a year and signals we are again at the beginning of a brand new "Idol" season.

But before we get to the embarrassing bits of attempted music, let's review the actual...

'Mad Men,' 'Modern Family' Among Year's Best TV

December 7th, 2009 1:15pm EST
Modern Family
NEW YORK (AP) - The biggest shows of 2009 couldn't always be contained by the TV screen. There were breakout tabloid scandals with Jon and Kate Gosselin. A wannabe reality TV star crashed the White House. David Letterman's hanky-panky seized headlines. Oprah Winfrey grabbed the nation's attention as she began her long goodbye. This was TV run amok.

But in 2009 other shows proved outstanding on more manageable terms: as excellent TV shows. They include:

- "Breaking Bad" (FX). Here's the cruelest premise on series TV: a high-school teacher with terminal cancer gets into the crystal-meth...

September 21st, 2009 12:30pm EDT
Desperate Housewives
Since CNN has such a blast creating a report card to track the Presidency, we decided to have some fun with television. Which networks come out strong and which ones need to do better homework?

MAJOR NETWORKS

ABC: B

The Good: The dramas are what keep us coming back to ABC. Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, FlashForward, and V are worth looking forward to. The one comedy that stands out and may hold itself against NBC's stellar comedies, Modern Family, is worth a few episodes past the pilot.

The Bad: Dancing With The Stars is extremely popular, however sometimes too much of a ...

Henry Rollins On His 'Sons Of Anarchy' Role: 'Not The Kind Of Bad Guy You Root For'

September 8th, 2009 2:49pm EDT
Henry Rollins
If any one word describes Henry Rollins, it's 'intense.' Whether on the stage singing or speeding a Hummer along sand dunes while Steve-O gets a tattoo in the back seat, he has always emitted a visceral attitude. PopEater had a chance to sit down with Rollins and discuss his Sons of Anarchy role as a white supremacist.

Can you tell me a little bit about your role in 'Sons of Anarchy'?

Yeah, I'm a white supremacist, I have no redeeming qualities whatsoever, besides that I like my kids. Past that, I'm not the kind of 'bad guy' you root for... at all... He's not an emotional person so it...

Sprague Grayden
Sprague Grayden is a pleasure to talk to about almost anything and everything, which it seems we did. She talked to us about her new role on Fox's "24" as well as previous shows like "Jericho," "Sons of Anarchy" and "Six Feet Under." We also discussed her love of sci-fi and Pez.

We should get this out of the way, since it is probably the first question everyone asks. Your first name is your mom's maiden name, correct? It's very cool.

Yes. Thanks!

So if you have a child, will you maybe name him/her Grayden?

Grayden is a pretty cool first name for a child but I'm going to ...
