5 Best and 5 Worst Live Action TV Series Based On Comics

August 30th, 2012 4:07pm EDT
The Walking Dead
Expectations are high for Joss Whedon's SHIELD live-action superhero series. While animated series based on comics have flourished ever since Batman: The Animated series broke onto the scene in the early 90s, live-action shows based on comic books are hit-or-miss. They require a larger budget to showcase super powers and outlandish costumes and mutants. Despite this, we were able to point out the five best live action TV shows based on comics - and managed to cut down the worst to five.

The Best:

1. The Incredible Hulk: This TV took its comic book source seriously, and the show profited...

Q&A: Sam Witwer Back For More 'Being Human'

January 11th, 2012 11:10am EST
Sam Witwer
You've got to keep your eye on Sam Witwer.

As the vampire Aidan on SyFy's Being Human, he could take a bite out of you if he wanted. But offscreen, the Battlestar Galactica veteran's wit as is sharp as his alter-ego's fangs. He's also a man of multiple talents, not only an actor but a musician.

As Being Human starts its second season on January 16, Sam sat down with me to discuss what's next for his character, what he's up to when the cameras aren't rolling, and if being a sci-fi success also allows him to be a fanboy.

"It's interesting," he said of coming back for a sophomore run. "We a...

TV Goodbye: Shows That Ended & Shows That Were Cancelled In 2011

Canceled and Ended Shows in 2011
Ask the typical American to name 20 currently airing primetime television shows and they probably can't without doing some serious thinking. They'd probably even ramble off a few that were cancelled during the year or the year before without even realizing it.

In 2011 a myriad of television shows come to an end with over 80 leaving the airwaves, most of which you probably never even heard of (some were so small we didn't even include them in this year-end roundup).

Some had tearful goodbyes after long runs (Oprah, Big Love, Rescue Me), and others were canceled so fast we hardly even knew ...

'Chuck' Recap: 'Chuck Versus The Bearded Bandit' (5.02)

November 5th, 2011 12:04am EDT
Chuck
Season five of Chuck got off to a good start with last week's season premiere. It keeps rolling this week, with a second episode that starts to lay out where the final year is headed.

This week, we meet the competition: Verbanski Corp, led by Gertrude Verbanski (that's The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss, sounding like she's narrating a Cyberdyne advert). She used to work for the KGB, and Casey really doesn't like her, having had a nasty run-in (and subsequent fling) with her in 1995. Since then, she's put together a whole compound of minions, and is out to recruit a few more from Tea...

It’s another late night at the Daily Planet for Lois Lane when Clark comes whooshing in with boxes of Chinese food (direct from Bangkok, where the Blur was helping with some flood cleanup). Speaking of the farm, a flash of light brings the evil Clark Luthor following his father to our Earth from the alternate dimension (last seen in Episode 10) where the Blur… or rather, Ultraman is the world’s most wanted villain, not its greatest hero. W...

The marriage relationship is the staple and backbone of our society—and the same goes for the TV Land universe. Lucy and Ricky Ricardo (I Love Lucy) slept in twin beds and Lucy most times resorted to manipulation to get her way, or she whined and cried until she did.
