Russell Crowe To Play The Sheriff of Nottingham In New 'Robin Hood' Movie

Russell Crowe is set to play the Sheriff of Nottingham in a new film version of Robin Hood. Universal Pictures have lined up the Gladiator star for their take on the classic tale, which will portray the traditionally evil Sheriff as a good character. The project has been devised by Sleeper Cell creators Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris.

Reiff told the Hollywood Reporter website: "Part of the strength of the script was the simple idea of doing 'Robin Hood' by making the sheriff the good guy."

'The Shield' Leads NAMIC Vision Award Nominations

Nominations for the 13th Annual NAMIC Vision Awards were announced today by the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC). A record number 37 networks received nominations for the only entertainment industry award honoring outstanding achievements in original, multi-ethnic cable programming.

Last night the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of the 58th Annual Emmy Awards. The Fox drama 24 was named Outstanding Drama Series for the first time after five nominations in the category, and in its first season, the NBC series The Office, a U.S. adaptation of the hit British series of the same name, was named Outstanding Comedy Series. Showtime has ordered a new, eight-hour television event based upon last year's Golden Golden-nominated miniseries, Sleeper Cell. Michael Ealy and Oded Fehr re-team for the frighteningly realistic drama, set to begin production in Los Angeles this summer.
