'The Simpsons' To Appear On Special 'Family Guy' Crossover Episode

Animated rivals "Family Guy" and "The Simpsons" will meet face to face in a special crossover episode that will air in 2014 on Fox.

The highly anticipated episode will feature Seth McFarlane's dysfunctional Griffin family traveling to Springfield and meeting Matt Groening's cartoon clan.

"Family Guy" patriarch Peter Griffin said in a mock statement: "Fox hasn't spent this much money since they took Simon Cowell tight t-shirt shopping."

Matt Groening, creator of hit Fox animated TV series The Simpsons, is mourning the death of his mother Margaret, who inspired the show's matriarch Marge Simpson.

Mrs. Groening died in her sleep on April 22 in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 94. She was born Margaret Wiggum on March 23, 1919, in Chisolm, Minn. Wiggum is another familiar "Simpsons" name -- the town's police chief and his son Ralph share the surname.

Margaret is survived by her son and two daughters -- yes, Lisa and Maggie. Her eldest daughter, Patty, passed away earlier this year and was the inspiration for Marge Simpson's ...

The pop singer will play himself in an upcoming episode of the long-running animated show, and will be seen attempting to enter a talent contest.

The Simpsons creator Matt Groening has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in the same week the 500th episode of the classic cartoon aired.

The Simpsons are going to the Oscars on Fox February 20 (one week before ABC airs the real deal), and 2001 winner Halle Berry will be on stage to present an animated film award.
