'Shameless' Recap: 5 Best Moments From 'I'm The Liver'

January 19th, 2015 9:09am EST
'Shameless' Review: 5 Best Moments From 'I'm The Liver'
Happy Father’s Day, Shameless universe! “I'm The Liver” jam packs dozens of plots, big and small, into a single episode, including Ian’s continued descent, Lip’s new job, Veronica’s post-partum depression, Sammi’s desperation to get Frank to notice her, Frank’s brewery, and the budding gentrification of the South Side, among many others. Yet, it still manages to feel cohesive. Even with the many subplots, it never feels like the characters exist in a bubble. They cross paths, interact, and acknowledge each other’s storylines. It’s actually quite an impressive achievement to feature so much ...

'Shameless' Recap: 5 Best Moments From The Season Premiere 'Nectar Of The Gods'

January 9th, 2015 9:30am EST
'Shameless' Review: 5 Best Moments From The Season Premiere 'Nec
Shameless remains one of the few Showtime series that manages to get better every year, instead of the usual steady decline in quality. Although last season was the most depressing to date, it proved that even when the characters spiraled out of control and destroyed everything around them, they were still worth watching. The show’s writers have promised that this season, set in the fun summer months, will be a step away from the bleakness that nearly demolished the Gallagher family last season.

The 5th season premiere “Nectar of the Gods” is back to the classic Shameless mix of unabashed ...

Laura Slade Wiggins Stars In Lifetime's 'Thinspiration'
Our look inside the Lifetime original movie Thinspiration concludes with star Laura Slade Wiggins, who plays Hannah, the young woman whose battle with an eating disorder challenges her whole family. BFTV had the chance to sit down with Laura before tonight's premiere to ask her about being at the center of this compelling film, and what motivated her to take on the challenge.

"Anorexia and bulimia is a disease that I feel like my generation has fought, and we really have to band together and make sure it's not okay," Laura told us. "I'm just really passionate about bringing that kind of ex...

Emma Kenney, 'Shameless' Star On The Set

February 11th, 2014 11:10am EST

Emma Kenney stars in Showtime’s award-winning drama, Shameless. In case you haven’t seen this show, it’s about a large, poor family with a dad who is an alcoholic (Academy Award nominee, William H. Macy), and the mom is MIA. Consequently, the children are forced to raise themselves in a shady area of Chicago.

Shameless recently started its fourth season. You can watch the compelling series on Sunday at 9:00PM.

Emma provided some insight about her character during our chat between filming.

Who is Debbie Gallagher?

Debbie's the middle Gallagher sibling, and she's very different than the...

10 Toughest Female Characters On TV

October 27th, 2013 1:00pm EDT
Arya Stark
We’ve come up with a list of the Top 10 Toughest Women on TV. See who made the cut below and let us know yours in the comments section.

10. Arya Stark, Game of Thrones (HBO)

This girl is not yet a woman but she is definitely worthy of this list. Arya Stark has gone through a lot in her youth, she’s seen things no normal 13-year old should see. She’s been on her own since the first season (we’re now heading into the fourth. Throughout her everlasting search for her family, she’s had to pretend being a boy (up until this season where it’s clear she’s becoming a woman). She hasn’t gotten a f...

A Few Minutes With... Madison Moellers on 'Shameless' and Women in Hollywood

March 3rd, 2013 2:20pm EST
Madison Moellers
Madison Moellers arrived on Showtime's Shameless last month, playing the character of Molly Milkovich, the younger sibling of Mandy - and while she was a fresh face on the hit series, she also kept busy off-camera working to tell the stories of successful women in the entertainment industry. Madison recently took some time out of her schedule to chat with me about what it was like for her to work on Shameless and whether or not having her own web series has helped her see things from the other side of the red carpet.

"One of the things that I love about [Shameless] is that, on most sets, e...

Is Estefania In Love With Jimmy On 'Shameless'? We Talk To Her Portrayer To Find Out

March 2nd, 2013 1:30pm EST
Stephanie Vanessa Fantauzzi
Jimmy’s got a lot of things on his mind on this season of Shameless and one of them is Estefania, his wife and the daughter of a drug lord. Estefania may even starting to fall in love with Jimmy—or at least, in lust.

To learn more about how Estefania will continue to become a distraction in Jimmy’s life, I spoke with the actress that plays her, Stephanie Vanessa Fantauzzi, over email. Here’s what we discussed:

You've been in the new season of Shameless quite a bit already... how many more episodes can we expect to see you in this season?

Yes! Este’s back in full swing this season. She wi...

James Wolk: The One to Watch in 2013

February 11th, 2013 9:15am EST
James Wolk
James Wolk is the best actor whose name you don't know. But you've seen him. You've seen his performances, which have been great from the start and have just kept getting better. Not only is he consistent, but that intangible quality that others aspire to, he has. Whether it's a supporting part in a movie or a leading role on television, he's elevated every project that he's been in. Oh, and he's also one of Hollywood's true gentlemen. Now, in 2013, there's no limit to what he can do.

He's no overnight success, either. He's worked his way to the top of his craft, and the rise began with a ...

'Shameless' Season 3: Nothing’s Changed – And We Wouldn't Want It Any Other Way!

January 16th, 2013 1:40pm EST
Shameless - Season 3
As seen in the season premiere of Shameless this past Sunday, 137 days have passed between what happened at the end of season two and where we begin season three.

(Spoilers ahead for the first episode and mild teasers for the next three.)

Frank does manage to make it back from Mexico – wonder if we’ll ever see what landed him there in the first place – and Jimmy’s life has been threatened by Estefania’s father, Nando. Jimmy has to pretend to be her husband to fool the INS so she can be an American citizen and Jimmy is keeping it from Fiona. Lip has been sentenced to community service and ...

Showtime Sunday Nights Return with 'Shameless,' 'House of Lies,' 'Californication'

January 13th, 2013 9:00am EST
Showtime is the channel to be watching on Sunday nights. After the nail-biting returns of Dexter and Homeland, the premium cabler is now bringing the laughs with new seasons of Shameless, House of Lies, and Californication, starting tonight.

All three shows have some element of people behaving badly, whether it's Frank Gallagher's lack of parenting or Hank Moody's ever-growing list of flings. That concept works better for some shows than it does others. Season six of Californication is the same debauchery with a different theme. After trying the film world in season four, this time around ...

Emmy Rossum Initially Deemed 'Too Glamorous' For 'Shameless'

January 3rd, 2013 8:12am EST
Emmy Rossum
Emmy Rossum had to fight for her role in TV hit Shameless after producers ruled her out for looking "too glamorous."

The actress was desperate to be cast as Fiona Gallagher in the U.S. adaptation of the British show, about a dysfunctional family living in Chicago, Illinois, but producers felt she wasn't right for the role.

She tells Manhattan magazine, "They didn't want to see me; they wouldn't even (let me) audition. They thought my image was too glamorous, that I couldn't not be pretty."

Rossum shot a home video of herself as Fiona to prove she could handle the part, and she managed...

Q&A: 'The Client List' Star Naturi Naughton: 'There Are So Many Things I Want To Do'

April 8th, 2012 10:00am EDT
Naturi Naughton
Lifetime's The Client List premieres tonight (10 PM ET/PT). You've seen the saucy ads of Jennifer Love Hewitt as Riley Parks, who works at a day spa that has a little something extra going on. But she's not the only one who's a part of the story.

I recently caught up with singer/actress Naturi Naughton, who co-stars with Hewitt in the Lifetime original series, to ask her about her role in the new show, her experience coming off the similarly sexy The Playboy Club, and her other aspirations.

What was the moment when you decided on an entertainment career?

I was pretty young when I decid...

'Shameless' 2.12 Recap: Fiona Interrupted

April 2nd, 2012 11:45am EDT
CBS Corporation
Every time I think I've about had it with "Shameless," it shows up with a bag of surprises and I'm hooked again. It's the show I just can't quit, thanks in large part to the fearless maiden at its center: Fiona Gallagher, played by the too good to be true Emmy Rossum. She wrangles her siblings through the pratfalls of adolescence and rarely finds time for herself. And while the second season has been a real test of faith for both Fiona and the audience, last night's finale proved that the heart of "Shameless" is the true anchor in the sea of chaos that threatens to drown it every so often. ...

'Shameless' Recap: 'A Great Cause'

March 20th, 2012 10:20am EDT
CBS Corporation
There’s an underlying issue with Shameless that’s sometimes hard to put a finger on. I’ve noted it often, and usually sweep it aside; the show is fun and I’m entertained, so why fuss? But every once and a while it’s so noticeable that it’s painful. I spent the better part of this weekend re-watching the firstseason on DVD, twelve episodes in a rapid-fire succession, and finally came to terms with what it is that rubs me the wrong way. It’s not the cold-hearted indifference of Frank Gallagher or the often-ludicrous mishaps his kids get mucked up in. It’s not even the over-the-top ticks of ch...

'Shameless' Recap: 'Hurricane Monica'

March 12th, 2012 3:15pm EDT
CBS Corporation
Well, things just got interesting. More interesting, that is, since Shameless is always at least somewhat interesting, even when it’s hog-wild and off-the-charts. In last week’s game changer, Fiona kicked Lip out of the house for dropping out of school and Monica showed up again after the death of Grammy. This week’s episode, “Hurricane Monica,” deals with the repercussions of both storylines, sometimes jointly, sometimes on separate planes.

Lip’s been staying with Karen and Shelia (and Jody), but when Shelia starts demanding rent, he hits the streets, sleeping on the subway, even beggin...

Q&A: Get To Know 'Shameless' Star Zach McGowan

March 3rd, 2012 12:00pm EST
Zach McGowan
Have you gotten to know the newest member of the cast of Shameless? Actor Zach McGowan joined the Showtime series this season in the role of Jody, Sheila's (Joan Cusack) son-in-law. To help you get acquainted, I sat down and asked him a few questions about the man behind the man on the motorcycle.

What made you decide to pursue a career as an actor?

In reality, I've always been an actor, since I was a kid. I did theater growing up in New York. I was always in the plays in school. I was either going to be an actor or an athlete or a soldier. Those were kind of the three paths that...

Emmy Rossum Wears An Adorable Yellow Dress Made Partly Of Pineapple

February 23rd, 2012 12:00pm EST
Emmy Rossum
Emmy Rossum wore a dress made of pineapple fibers, hemp and other materials to Global Green USA's pre-oscar party in Hollywood yesterday.

Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino's Eco Coutour made the dress for the "Shameless" star. We give her two green thumbs up for the eco-friendly ensemble!

The actress recently admitted she was treated to hotdogs as a child if she showed off her singing skills. A member of New York's Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus, a local butcher gave her lunch if she sang him an aria.

Q&A: 'Happy Endings' Guest Star James Wolk

February 8th, 2012 6:00pm EST
Happy Endings
ABC's Happy Endings is celebrating Valentine's Day early - and giving us the gift of James Wolk as Max's (Adam Pally) ex-boyfriend, Grant.

Best known as the lead on FOX's critically acclaimed but very short-lived Lone Star, James recently dropped by to talk about what it's like to work on a show that you're a fan of and what he thinks of the holiday.

What attracted you to this character?

I was a fan of the show prior to being on it. I had just finished working on a play and we started to talk to the Happy Endings folks. There was interest from both sides, which was exciting, because ...

'Shameless' Recap: 'Father's Day'

February 6th, 2012 12:33pm EST
Shameless isn't a perennial feel-good Sunday night doozy, like the typical start-of-the-week programs that occupy that particular corner of television airwaves. And yet it's disguised as one, what with its upbeat intro, yellow-hued color scheme and boisterous clan of characters. At its chore, Shameless is a sad drama about a poverty-stricken family and their woes of addiction. But what separates Shameless from run-of-the-mill melodrama is the fierce will of each member of the Gallagher family. There's no time to be sad about their absent mother or drunkenly abrasive father, Frank (William H...

CBS Broadcasting Inc.
Shameless, House of Lies and Californication will be back for new seasons next year, thanks to an early season renewal from Showtime.

The cable network renewed Shameless for a third season and Californication for a sixth. House of Lies, which debuted with 3.98 million viewers in its premiere week, will return for season two.

Dexter remains Showtime's biggest ratings pull, but Shameless holds steady in second place, averaging 4.7 million viewers per week, once DVR and rerun airings are factored in. The show is up 30 percent in overall viewership since last year, when the premiere pulled i...

Emmy Rossum 'Outraged' After Seeing Mountain Lion Slurping From Her Pool

January 4th, 2012 10:00am EST
Emmy Rossum
Emmy Rossum was left outraged when a mountain lion trespassed on her Hollywood Hills property and started drinking from her pool during the holidays.

Rather than feel fear or wonder as she watched the big cat slurp, the native New Yorker got angry and tried to shoo the creature away.

The "Shameless" star says, "I was sitting in my back yard... and there's this clearing... and there was a mountain lion that came walking through the clearing and was drinking out of my pool.

"I didn't have the fear instinct; I had the New York 'outraged' instinct. I was like, 'What the hell are you doing? G...

Animal Kingdom
Oscar-nominated Australian movie Animal Kingdom is heading to the small screen as a new U.S. TV show.

The drama won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination for its star Jacki Weaver in her role as the matriarch of a notorious Melbourne crime family, and now it is set for an American revamp.

The film will be made into a TV pilot for Showtime with the option of turning it into a full-length series.

The movie's Australian producer, Liz Watts, says, "We would hope it goes into a really long-running series, of course. Certainly, the investors are very happy with the deal... They...

Early 2011 Emmy Predictions: Here's Who Will Win

August 20th, 2011 6:00pm EDT
Mad Men
It may be a little early to predict the Emmy winners, but unlike the Oscars, not much changes in the Emmy Awards season once the nominations are out.

The Emmys can be very tough to predict, but we'll take our best shot. Here's who we think will go home with the gold on Sept. 18th. Do you agree?

Outstanding Drama Series
'Boardwalk Empire'
'Friday Night Lights'
'Game of Thrones'
'The Good Wife'
'Mad Men'

After yet another outstanding season, it looks like 'Mad Men' may make it four in a row. Its only real competition is 'Boardwalk Empire,' which took the Golden Globe, and...
