Despite her renewed commitment to her relationship with Aidan (John Corbett), Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) finds her resolve thrown into serious peril when Big (Chris Noth), possibly the world's worst ex-boyfriend, shows up at her doorstep and confesses that although he is married to Natasha, he can't stop thinking about Carrie. Another relationship is dragged into an early grave when Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) realizes she's tired of Steve's (David Eigenberg) childish, slothful tendencies and decides to break up with him. However, things are looking up for the relentlessly altar-minded Charlotte (Kristin Davis), whose burgeoning relationship with Trey (Kyle MacLachlan) is looking so promising that she decides to resist having sex for awhile in the hope that she can somehow be "re-virginized." Far from wanting to be re-virginized, Samantha (Kim Cattrall), who is worried that she may be menopausal, experiences a joyous rebirth of sorts when, while having sex with her latest conquest (Robert Lupone), she unexpectedly catches a wave on the crimson tide.
