Scrubs creator adapting series into musical

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is in the early stages of developing a musical based on his hit medical sitcom.

The comedy starring, Zach Braff and Donald Faison, ran for nearly a decade between 2001 and 2010, and Lawrence has confirmed he is in the process of bringing the hospital show back in the form of a stage musical.

He tells Entertainment Weekly, "One of the things we really cared about on the show was that we always incorporated not only pop music, but a lot of singing and songwriting, ranging from an a cappella group to a full-blown musical episode."

Actor Donald Faison has two big reasons to celebrate this weekend - his new movie Kick-Ass 2 is already a U.S. box office hit and he's a new dad.

The former Scrubs star's wife CaCee Cobb gave birth to the couple's first child together on Thursday (15Aug13), and Faison tweeted the happy news to his followers on Friday.

He wrote, "Yesterday @caceecobb and I welcomed the most amazing little boy into our lives! Oh Happy Day!!"

Actor Zach Braff helped an undiscovered musician propose to his girlfriend by shooting an online video urging the young couple to get married.

Matt Hulbert reached out to the former Scrubs star and asked him to participate in the special moment via crowd-funding website Kickstarter.com, which Braff used to raise money for a sequel to his indie film Garden State.

Actor Zach Braff has been given the green-light to start production on his crowd-sourced new movie after securing additional funding to cover the full costs of the project.

The former Scrubs star launched a Kickstarter.com campaign last month (Apr13) to raise $2 million (£1.3 million) for Wish I Was Here, a follow-up to 2004 comedy-drama Garden State, about a young man who re-evaluates his life after learning of his father's deteriorating health.

Scrubs star Donald Faison has been hit with a lawsuit from his agents who allege he owes them commission payments.

Executives at United Talent Agency claim to be responsible for landing the actor his most famous role as Turk on the medical sitcom, as well as negotiating his fee of $75,356 (£48,600) per episode.

But in a new lawsuit, UTA chiefs allege Faison stopped paying them their 10 per cent commission during the show's ninth and final season, which aired in 2010.

The Tangled star has landed the leading lady role in upcoming series Us and Them, a light-hearted take on family conflicts.

The stars of sitcom Scrubs live in fear on the set of the medical show, because the derelict hospital it's shot in is infested with thousands of rats.

The show is filmed on location at North Hollywood Medical Center, which was abandoned in 1998 and has been used in a number of TV shows and movies, as well as being home to colonies of rodents.
