When Grace's father has a fire station named after him, Grace's family comes together for the dedication ceremony. Henry's cat dies and Grace comforts him the only way she knows how.
Grace and the guys investigate the murder of a "crispy critter" in the Oklahoma countryside and Bobby soon discovers the deceased was one of his mentees. Grace enlists the help of her Native American grandfather, "Geepaw," to help with the case, but is shocked when she sees how quickly his health is deteriorating. Grace and her sister, Paige, fight over many things, including Geepaw's future in a nursing home. Earl tries to make Grace realize the importance of family and Grace and Butch rekindle their passion.

Wade, a devoutly Christian teenager and witness to a murder, is being threatened with violence in the days leading up to the trial at which he's supposed to testify. As the intimidating tactics escalate, Wade's father is concerned Grace and the police will not be able to protect him. To keep Wade safe, Grace decides to let him stay at her place until the trial. Meanwhile, Grace is unnerved when she has a vision of her young nephew Clay talking to death-row inmate Leon on the street. She lashes out at Earl, knowing that he has something to do with the vision. Earl responds by telling Grace he wants her to work with Leon on something, but he doesn't reveal what exactly.
And You Wonder Why I Lie
The death of an alleged call girl in a flight attendant's uniform leads Grace and the guys to investigate a notorious Oklahoma crime family. Grace is finally confronted by Ham's wife about the affair. A financially-strapped Rhetta gets excited about making two grand as an expert witness. And Grace and Rhetta hatch a secret plan for Rhetta to meet Earl.

When a charred car is found with a rape kit and pictures of Paige, Grace is forced to dig into her sister's life. Meanwhile, with Rhetta's help, clues lead Grace to discover that the priest that molested her from when she was 9 until her first period at 12 is still alive. Grace goes to the retirement sanctuary in Tulsa to kill him, only to discover that most likely Earl has had contact with him.

When the manager of a sleazy motel is murdered, the investigation points towards a maid who claims that the victim was trying to rape her. But something in her story doesn't wash. She goes to her local priest and invokes the right of sanctuary, putting the police department in a difficult political position during the new lieutenant's first week on the job. The religious aspect of the case also causes difficulties between Grace and her brother Johnny when Grace repeatedly shows disrespect for the Catholic Church. Earl, meanwhile, continues to be a presence in Grace's life, one she is actually beginning to accept to a small degree.

Grace investigates a possible negligent homicide involving a bus accident that resulted in the deaths of three children, but the case takes a backseat when multiple tornadoes touch down in Oklahoma City. Grace serves as a first responder during the crisis and helps a trapped twister victim named Dorothy. Meanwhile, Rhetta gets trapped in the morgue; and Leon considers becoming a Muslim.

While hunting deer, Grace and Ham get called into work on their day off. An oilman was murdered with a tire iron. Grace unravels a love triangle between the man, his business partner, and his wife- a triangle that reflects Grace's relationships with Ham and Butch. For a pair of shoes, an informant named Pup supplies our officers with a man who may be helpful in solving the crime. Unfortunately, he turns out to be Lieutenant Yukon's brother, and the results are disastrous. Rhetta starts an Earl file in the office, based on angel evidence Grace brings in. Earl attempts to get Grace closer to God by any means necessary- even wrestling her in Athens to prove a point. Leon and Grace try, but can't remember what Earl looks like.
