Joan Van Ark Wants A Lesbian Role

Former Knot's Landing star Joan Van Ark is looking to return to TV - as a lesbian. The 62-year-old actress is looking to revive her small screen career after years spent acting on stage - and she's looking for a role on gay-girl drama The L Word.

She says, "I'd kill (for that). I'd love it." And she already has an on screen girlfriend in mind: "Maybe with Rosie O'Donnell because she's going back to do it. We'll be the couple."

Rosie O'Donnell will need to keep her hair long if she's to pick up a $2 million pay packet as the new co-host of magazine show The View. The actress has come out of syndicated TV show retirement to replace Meredith Vieira on the news and chat morning show - but she'll have to keep her hair long if she wants to remain at The View's breakfast table with Barbara Walters and Star Jones.

Barbra Streisand is to do another farewell tour. The singer-turned-actress - who last said 'goodbye' to fans in 2000 - will kick the 20 date run off in the autumn. An insider told New York Post newspaper "Barbra will perform 'in the round' from the middle of arenas. She'll be paid $2 million per show, with the best tickets retailing for $1,500 a pop."

They added: "Organizers are trying to find a suitable opening act. "They've tried unsuccessfully for Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond and Andrea Bocelli as opening acts. Now they're trying to get Il Divo."
