Fall TV 2014: A Night By Night Comparison Of What May And May Not Work

May 15th, 2014 2:40pm EDT
Fall TV 2014: A Night By Night Comparison Of What May And May No
Now that all the big networks have revealed what they’ll be showing us this fall, let’s take a look at what may or may not work.

SUNDAY:

ABC is essentially playing it safe, and keeping Sunday Night intact. American Crime will swap for Resurrection at midseason. Resurrection was a buzzy drama that started seeing a ratings decline. Not waiting till midseason is probably a smart move. You don’t want to lose any more audience. It’s not a winning strategy, but ABC just doesn’t want to be in last place.

NBC has football, another super safe move. CBS is shaking things up, banishing Amazing Race...

March 6th, 2014 2:10pm EST
'Reign's' Jonathan Keltz Builds On His Standout Year
2013 was a pretty fantastic year for Jonathan Keltz. He had recurring roles on not one, not two, but three series: CBC's Republic of Doyle, USA's Necessary Roughness, and you now know him as Leith on The CW's freshman hit series Reign. BFTV recently joined Jonathan to talk about his great year, and how exactly one follows that up in 2014.

"I love doing multiple projects at once," he said. "You definitely want to be moving forward and build upon it. But I don't think there's any pressure. I do this because I love it, and I've been fortunate that I've been doing it for a long time, and I've ...

"The Carrie Diaries," "Hart of Dixie," "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Tomorrow People" were not mentioned in the network's press release.

So far, the 2013-13 television season has delivered far more home-runs than strike-outs.  Now that shows are doling out their juiciest storylines for November sweeps, it's time to hand out grades for the freshman television shows.

"Mom" CBS, Mondays at 9:30pm EST
Anna Faris and Allison Janney are a mother-daughter duo battling their demons in this delightfully dysfunctional comedy from the sitcom king, Chuck Lorre.  The two are also a heartbreakingly hilarious combo that turn their struggle to sobriety into a blazingly entertaining and realistic journey.  In the most timely and relatabl...

The CW Is Sticking Behind 'Originals,' 'Reign,' And 'Tomorrow People'

November 12th, 2013 9:06am EST
The Originals
The CW has ordered full seasons of all three of its new shows, The Originals, Reign, and The Tomorrow People. By all accounts, The Originals is a success, while Tomorrow and Reign are both solid performers.

Surprisingly so for Reign, which is unlike other programming on the net, and has sustained ratings in a very difficult timeslot. The CW has a few midseason shows still waiting, however they only picked up limited runs of The Carrie Diaries and Nikita, so they will still be freeing up timeslots.

Interviewing CW's 'Reign' Cast And Executive Producer

October 28th, 2013 9:30am EDT
Reign
During New York Comic Con, I interviewed the executive producer and cast of CW’s new show, ‘Reign’, which surrounds Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane), Queen of Scots, and her adolescent ascent to power. As a former ren faire performer, I squeed when I heard about the TV show. But, I also feared they might lean towards a fantasy-oriented interpretation. Despite giving Mary’s French consort, Francis (Toby Regbo), a fictional brother, Bash (Torrance Coombs), and adding gothic elements, Executive Producer Laurie McCarthy promised she’d follow the historical path. I’ll be honest. As a kid I was obsess...

Top 10 Hits:

Mom: Chuck Lorre is pretty close to owning CBS at this point. Even if the show is dreadful, it will still benefit from being a part of CBS’s strong Monday night lineup, and leading out from 2 Broke Girls which has evolved into a hit over the last two seasons. Plus, the addition of Anna Faris and Allison Janney...
