The Closer
In her first lead role in a dramatic series, Kyra Sedgwick plays a tough CIA-trained detective with Southern charm, who has been brought from Atlanta to Los Angeles to head up the Priority Murder Squad, a special unit of the LAPD that handles sensitive, high-profile murder cases. Season 2 of The Closer is now in stores. Also on DVD: Rawhide and "F Troop" season 2 and The Andy Griffith Show the complete series.

Frankie Laine Best Known For 'Rawhide' And 'Mule Train' Dies At Age 93

Veteran singer Frankie Laine has died in a San Diego, California hospital. He was 93.

Lane, best known for singing the theme from classic TV western series Rawhide, suffered a heart attack following hip replacement surgery. He passed away yesterday at Scripps Mercy Hospital.

Laine's other hits included Jezebel, I Believe, Mule Train, Cold Water and Answer Me.

Born Frank LoVecchio in Chicago, Illinois on March 30, 1913, Laine had his first hit in 1947, going on to enjoy a career in which he sold 250 million albums and was awarded 21 gold records.

There are a bunch of new TV-On-DVD releases to check out this week. First, JAG season one finally hits stores. The series centers on two attorneys who investigate and litigate crimes committed by Navy and Marine personnel. Also out this week: Chappelle's Show the lost episodes, The Boondocks season one, La Femme Nikita season four, Tales From the Crypt season four, Three's Company season seven, and Rawhide season one.

1950s 'Zorro' Actor Britt Lomond Dies

Zorro villain Britt Lomond died of kidney failure at a Huntington Beach, Calif., nursing home. He was 80. The actor, who played Captain Monastario in the hit 1950s TV series, also appeared on hit western show Rawhide. A postage stamp depicting Lomond as Monastario was issued by the Netherlands in 2004, the same year as the release of his memoir, "Chasing After Zorro."

Away from his celebrity life, Lomond served as a paratrooper in World War II and was awarded three Purple Hearts and both the Silver and Bronze Stars. After the war he moved to Hollywood to realise a dream of becoming a...
