2013 Fall TV Preview: The Returning Shows On FOX

September 7th, 2013 12:30pm EDT
New Girl
We've reached the end of the 2013 Fall TV Preview.

BONES returns Monday, September 16 at 8PM

Booth and Bones find a friend in the priesthood. The priest will help counsel the couple. Oh, he's an ex-priest now working as a bartender. A wedding's in the works for Bones and Booth. Apparently, the wedding will happen. I've found absolutely nothing about Bones solving murders. The early going of the season seems focused on romance.

NEW GIRL returns Tuesday, September 17 at 9PM

I've heard a few interviews with New Girl creator, Liz Meriweather. I really dig listening to her talking about wri...

The veteran actor has made his career disappearing into roles on shows like Deadwood, Burn Notice, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and The 4400. Now he's a well-meaning sitcom dad, and he spoke with me about Raising Hope's third season as well as what's left to do with such an impressive resume.

Having originally started in comedies, Dillahunt is enjoying his return to the genre. "I love this show. I love this job. I like everything about it pretty much," he said. "I love Greg [G...

'Top Gear' (US) Recap: Building (And Destroying) Limos

March 20th, 2012 10:02pm EDT
Top Gear
This week on History's Top Gear, Adam, Tanner and Rutledge try to go high-class when they build limos for the Emmy Awards, and fail miserably while we laugh at their pain. Yes, it's another week on Top Gear.

Tanner's limo is based on a 1987 Corvette, because he wants his creation to be "all about performance" and "able to do a burnout." Yep, that's Tanner. Unsurprisingly, it's bright red and only slightly less of an eyesore than Jeremy Clarkson's attempt at a limo. Rutledge calls it "a rolling sauna of exhaust fumes."

Rutledge picks a 1981 VW Rabbit pickup, which he calls "one of ...

In a fun statement, the estranged wife of comedian Russell Brand says, "Shannon Woodward is my best friend. A couple weeks ago, I was home, just toasting up a frozen chicken fillet when she called me up and asked if I wanted to do something '...

November 12th, 2011 11:20am EST
Danielle Turchiano
Danielle Turchiano has a dream job: she turned her love of TV into a career in production and later journalism. Then she decided to share her stories with us.

In her second book, appropriately titled My Life, Made Possible By Pop Culture, Danielle speaks frankly about her passion for the small screen and how it has influenced her relationships over the years.

I've gotten to know Danielle fairly well as our careers have crossed paths, and have found her to be one of the most engaging fellow journalists I've gotten to spend time with. I couldn't resist asking her about her newest book and h...

May 26th, 2011 11:33pm EDT
Andrew Garfield
New Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield is single after splitting from girlfriend Shannon Woodward, according to U.S. reports.

Garfield began dating the Raising Hope TV actress in 2008, but they are now said to have called it quits.

A source tells UsMagazine.com, "She is telling people they're on a break... (but) they haven't spoken to each other in weeks... He got deeper into filming The Amazing Spider-Man; he literally never saw her."

Representatives for both stars had yet to comment on the rumors as WENN went to press.

What To Watch: Viewers Finally Learn Which ‘Glee’ Cast Member They Will Say Goodbye To Forever (May 15-21, 2011)

May 15th, 2011 11:15am EDT
The number one thing you need to watch this week is “Glee” because after months of speculation, viewers will finally find out which cast member they will say goodbye to forever. That’s right; in case you haven’t heard, one of McKinley High’s own will face an unexpected loss. Cast and crew have been tight-lipped about who is dying, but viewer guesses include Sue’s sister, Puck and Quinn’s daughter, or Kurt’s dad. Of course, this doesn’t mean it couldn’t be one of the regular cast members; ugh, I cringed at the thought!

‘Amazing Race; Unfinished Business’ wraps up with $1 million winner, ent...

Anatomy Of A TV Season: The Hits & Misses

April 15th, 2011 12:00pm EDT
Kathy Bates
It’s almost May Sweeps, and season finales will be upon us faster than the networks can cancel soaps. Let’s break it down, network by network, of what succeeded – and what flopped – this TV season.

NBC

Let’s start with the weakest network. After the ‘Jay Leno Show’ debacle last season, NBC is still scrambling to find original programming that will net decent ratings.

‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’ has proved a disappointment, as evidenced by its massive overhaul and return to floundering ratings. The comedy ‘Outsourced’ is on the bubble, and shows such as ‘Chase’ and ‘Undercovers’ bombed ...

The Best And Worst Of TV 2010

December 22nd, 2010 12:00pm EST
Modern Family
The TV year was filled with ups and downs. Dramas contributed to what some call another “golden age of television.” Some comedies were excellent, while others were repellent. But there are a few sure things: the sitcom is on the upswing, reality is (probably) on the decline, and Conan O’Brien is really, really rich.

The Top 10, in descending order:

10. ‘Project Runway’ – This season sparked emotional highs thanks to Mondo, whose talent and grace (not to mention his poignant HIV background) propelled the show to new heights. But we were also witness to Gretchen, Poison Ivy and Michael ...

Fall TV: What's Surviving, What's Thriving, And What's Dying

November 11th, 2010 10:25am EST
Mike & Molly
We've reached a breaking point in the Fall TV season: almost everything that's still around will likely survive the season (key word: almost). It's becoming clearer which new shows are hits (hint: not many), and there are already several casualties. Let's run down the list.

The already renewed

CBS has picked up all five of their new shows: 'Hawaii Five-O,' 'Mike & Molly,' '@#$% My Dad Says,' 'Blue Bloods' and 'The Defenders.' Each show has performed admirably, but none can be called a runaway hit. CBS, though, has the least holes in its schedule and can be proud that viewership is up ...

Fall TV Ratings: What's Hot, What's Not

October 8th, 2010 9:30am EDT
Cloris Leachman
We're only two weeks into the fall season, and we have two series cancellations. Let's see if we can keep up this "one canceled show a week" deal. For the record, the goners are FOX's 'Lone Star' and ABC's 'My Generation,' both of which got dismal ratings. Production was also halted on the Jimmy Smits drama 'Outlaw' and it's not looking good for ABC's 'The Whole Truth' either. By next week there will likely be more network victims.

As of this week, no huge new hits have emerged. FOX's 'Raising Hope' is doing fairly well following the hot 'Glee' and was awarded this week with a ...

Martha Plimpton Is TV's New Funny Mom In 'Raising Hope'

Tonight, Fox’s new comedy Raising Hope shows you the latest unconventional family. Now family has come a long way over the years, so nothing should surprise you anymore. Martha Plimpton plays Virginia, whose son Jimmy becomes a single dad to an infant.

“I love the fact that she’s so sharp and that she’s so curious,” Plimpton said when she previewed the show at the Paley Center for Media on September 13. “She’s clearly working very hard to be well read but can’t ever seem to get the words right. I love that about her. I love the way she mispronounces big words. I love how she takes herself ...

There are a lot of TV shows returning and premering in the fall. Start making room on your DVR now because there are many can't-miss series on the boob tube.
