'Desperate Housewives' Creator Almost Didn't Graduate
Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry took 10 years to graduate from college after he missed a writing test to appear on a TV game show. The 44-year-old left California State University in Fullerton in 1985, but the weekend he was due to take a mandatory writing test he appeared on The $10,000 Pyramid and won $15,000.
Unbeknownst to Cherry, a former professor convinced officials at the college to allow him to graduate with his sister in 1995 - by which time he was already an established writer/producer on TV comedy The Golden Girls.
