Canadian actress Caterina Scorsone has given birth to her first child. A midwife helped deliver the "Private Practice" star's baby at her home in Los Angeles. Daughter Eliza arrived on Friday.

The baby is Scorsone's first with her rocker husband Rob Giles, and they are delighted with the new addition to their family.

The couple told People.com, "We couldn't be more in love with her and are overflowing with gratitude for this beautiful miracle."

Actress Kate Walsh will quit her hit medical drama Private Practice after its upcoming sixth season.

The star has been portraying Dr. Addison Montgomery in the Grey's Anatomy spin-off since its premiere in 2007, but she is preparing to hang up her stethoscope for good once filming wraps on the latest run of the show.

She tells new talk show host Bethenny Frankel, "This is my last season for Private Practice. It's been an incredible journey, an amazing ride. I'm hugely, hugely grateful.

"Right now, I feel really healthy, confident, and sexy," Kate Walsh tells Shape magazine about posing nude on the cover for its March issue.

"I'm enjoying my 40s and wanted to share that. Is it a mid-life crisis? I do drive a Porsche, so maybe it is!"

In the episode, entitled "Losing Battles," she reprises the role of Joanna Gibson. After first meeting Violet (Amy Brenneman) in the fifth-season premiere, Joanna returns "pregnant and badly beaten, and in need of Violet's help. Private Practice star Audra McDonald will be the star performer at New York's first legal same-sex marriage ceremony this weekend.

Politicians in the Big Apple passed a bill last month allowing gay partners to wed, and the law will come into force at midnight on Sunday.

The first official same-sex union will be officiated by the city's Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Tony Award winner McDonald has been invited to sing at the historical occasion.

Which is not necessarily a bad thing: The first time I watched “Off The Map,” I dismissed it as just another sexy doctor show produced by TV superstar Shonda Rhimes. Actress Amy Brenneman has opened up about the secret surgery she underwent in January, revealing she had an operation to cure her from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
