Master Thespian William Shatner Turns 80

March 22nd, 2011 8:07am EDT
William Shatner
Star Trek legend William Shatner is preparing to boldy go into his eighties this week - the veteran actor becomes an octogenarian on Tuesday.

After starting out as a classically-trained Shakespearean actor, Shatner swapped the theatrical stage for the bright lights of Hollywood in the late 1950s and went on to win the part that has defined his career - Captain James T. Kirk in classic sci-fi TV show Star Trek.

When the series came to an end in 1969, he reprised his role as Kirk on numerous occasions, including seven Star Trek movies, but has continued to find success on the small screen...

Hot Legs: Brittany Snow In A Short Black Dress & Yellow Neon Heels

July 24th, 2010 9:00am EDT
Brittany Snow
"John Tucker Must Die" star Brittany Snow made a playful fashion statement at the "Charlie St. Cloud" premiere in L.A. earlier this week. Not many people can carry off bright neon shoes, but Brittany managed to do it rather well.

The actress stars in the upcoming NBC series "Harry's Law." Emmy Award-winning creator David E. Kelley ("The Practice" & "Boston Legal") brings his unique storytelling to the series about fate and the people it brings together. It also stars Kathy Bates.

Brittany also has a few films in production, including "Janie Jones," "96 Minutes" and "Walks."

Betty White Has Still Got It - SNL Better Recognize

February 11th, 2010 10:00am EST
Betty White Has Still Got It
Who would have thought Betty White would have been a relevant pop culture reference come 2010? Sure she's been immortalized in American television history for her role as "Rose" on the award winning show, "The Golden Girls", which ran from 1985-1992, but now Facebook? Hollywood is always about who's younger and who's hotter, so how can we explain the rise of the Great White?

Well for starters, Mz. White is a maverick and mavericks, to paraphrase Sarah Palin, another aging hot rod, never follow the rules because that's "not mavericky" after all. Post "The Golden Girls" era, Betty cam...

TV Honorees That Don't Deserve Recognition At The Emmy Awards

June 9th, 2009 10:12am EDT
Emmy Awards
Nominations for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced Thursday, July 16. The Emmy Awards are a bit like the Gold Glove Award in baseball: There's no apparent reason behind the process of selecting recipients, and once you make the short list you're virtually guaranteed a spot for life.

Many blame the Television Academy's awkward way of determining television's best for the pallid variance between what's actually good and what the nomination list purports. Academy members (terribly busy producers, writers, directors and actors) are sent scant screeners by agents representin...

Michael Cudlitz Discusses Tonight's 'Southland' Season Finale
When Michael Cudlitz and I last spoke, back in April, I used some, well, (ahem) colorful language during an interview junket --

a junket that everyone but me thought was on live local television -- to describe his character on Southland, Officer John Cooper. We finally get a chance to go one-on-one and clear the air over that moment and, more importantly, discuss tonight's season finale of Southland (airing at 10 pm ET on NBC) along with his experience on Band of Brothers and working with John Cusack in Grosse Point Blank.

Michael Cudlitz: You're the guy who said, "You're a dick."

A Conversation with 'Lie To Me' Star Monica Raymund

February 4th, 2009 10:49am EST
Monica Raymund
(TJAGS is a weekly column) Every year I try to pick a new drama to watch and make it my "new show" that I follow for the season. This does not always work out (see: Love Monkey and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip). I had decided that Lie to Me was going to be this year's show, based mainly on my appreciation for Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction). Due to circumstances, I was out of town and I never got a chance to watch the two episodes I had recorded on DVR when, coincidentally, I was contacted and asked if I wanted to speak to one of the stars, Monica Raymund. I agreed, of course, and ...

Mr. Monk And The Miracle

December 1st, 2008 10:02am EST
Monk
Every once in a while on the hit USA show "Monk," the writers get together to write a happy Christmas episode to sate the fans as they wait for it to return in January. Former episodes have been the excellent "Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa," or last year's "Mr. Monk and the Man Who Shot Santa Claus," and this year another has been added titled "Mr. Monk and the Miracle." While this episode does deal with Adrian Monk and his wacky OCD tendencies, the main story actually revolves around Captain Stottlemeyer.

For years Stottlemeyer has provided Monk with a supportive and kind friend and ...

Top 10 TV Bad Guys

Prison Break
They're sneaky and snarky. They scheme and slay. TV is full of bad guys (and girls), from those who make being bad look like fun to those who make us clutch the pillow to our chests.

It takes some excellent writing and an excellent performance to make a bad guy who is a worthy opponent but also one that the fans don't want to see defeated. It's no easy job, but these guys and girls met the task:

1.) Angelus (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - Buffy was full of bad guys and villains - vampire duo Spike and Drusilla, rogue slayer Faith, Angel's sire Darla and a new Big Bad every season li...
