Several years ago during a high-profile party, Sigourney Weaver was escorted away after she tried to discuss abortion with President Ronald Reagan.

The actress was humiliated after she was forcefully "removed from the room" after striking up a conversation with Reagan and his stand against abortion.

"I tried to speak to Ronald Reagan about abortion and I was lifted up by his creatures and removed from the room," she recalls.

Sigourney Weaver To Star In TV Series 'Political Animals'

Sigourney Weaver is heading to TV in a new political drama series.

The Avatar actress has won the lead role in Political Animals, which focuses on a former First Lady and her family after her time in the White House and her marriage comes to an end.

It will be the first major role in a TV series for Weaver, who began her career in theatre before shooting to fame in the Alien sci-fi franchise.

Her only previous ventures to the small screen have been minor roles in TV series and appearances in several made-for-TV movies.
