Last night the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of the 58th Annual Emmy Awards. The Fox drama 24 was named Outstanding Drama Series for the first time after five nominations in the category, and in its first season, the NBC series The Office, a U.S. adaptation of the hit British series of the same name, was named Outstanding Comedy Series. The number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) scripted representations on the six major broadcast networks will comprise only 1.3% of all series regular characters on the networks' 2006-07 schedule, according to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences just announced the complete list of nominations for the 58th Primetime Emmy Awards. The TNT miniseries Into The West garnered the most nominations (16), followed by Elizabeth I (13), Mrs. Harris and 24 (12), Grey's Anatomy (11), and Bleak House and Will & Grace (10). Nominations in the lead categories are:
