Though up to this point the trials that The Osbournes had faced could mostly be classified as comical and fairly trivial, the family is dealt a devastating blow early in the second season when Sharon is diagnosed with colon cancer. As Jack and his mother remain together in Malibu for her treatment, Kelly maintains distant support as she records her forthcoming album in New York City, and Ozzy struggles to remain strong and sober for Sharon as his tour continues. Meanwhile, Jack has broken his elbow while jumping off a pier, and Sharon puts on a brave face with the confidence that she can overcome the cancer and get back on her feet.
