The Originals
Actress Claire Holt has exited U.S. TV drama The Originals before the end of the first season.

The Australian beauty was a series regular on The Vampire Diaries spin-off, playing vampire Rebekah, but she made her last appearance in an episode which aired in the U.S. on Tuesday (11Feb14), with just six episodes left in the show's freshman season.

Holt's character was first introduced in The Vampire Diaries in 2011, appearing in nearly 40 episodes before landing a place in The Originals spin-off, which debuted last autumn (13).

A source tells entertainment news site Zap2It.com that Tuesday...

The CW Renews 'Arrow,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Originals,' 'Supernat
The CW series "Arrow," "Reign," "The Originals," "The Vampire Diaries" and "Supernatural" have been picked up for another season, according to the network's president, Mark Pedowitz.

"The Carrie Diaries," "Hart of Dixie," "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Tomorrow People" were not mentioned in the network's press release.

The Tuesday night pairing of "The Originals" and "Supernatural" gave the CW its best night in years, Pedowitz explained, adding that Wednesday and Thursday nights have also been strong due to "Vampire Diaries," "Arrow" and "Reign."

"I'm very pleased to announce early pick...

After two and a half years of dating, the couple is set to tie the knot after Trauth popped the question last December (13).

The CW Is Sticking Behind 'Originals,' 'Reign,' And 'Tomorrow People'

November 12th, 2013 9:06am EST
The Originals
The CW has ordered full seasons of all three of its new shows, The Originals, Reign, and The Tomorrow People. By all accounts, The Originals is a success, while Tomorrow and Reign are both solid performers.

Surprisingly so for Reign, which is unlike other programming on the net, and has sustained ratings in a very difficult timeslot. The CW has a few midseason shows still waiting, however they only picked up limited runs of The Carrie Diaries and Nikita, so they will still be freeing up timeslots.

'The Originals' Review: 'House Of The Rising Sun'

October 9th, 2013 8:43am EDT
The Originals
The only important question for The Originals is: how do the writers make the originals sympathetic and relatable protagonists? The originals were the villains of The Vampire Diaries for far too long. Klaus tortured characters, maimed them, terrorized them, controlled them. His siblings fell into protecting Klaus, regardless of his actions. Through two and a half seasons of the originals on TVD, viewers learned about the tragic history of the family: Klaus-as-outcast, centuries of betrayal, a murderous father hell-bent on; a family as dysfunctional as the Jacksons. Klaus stands out as a vil...

2013 Fall TV Season: What Will Be The Second Cancellation?

October 8th, 2013 6:00pm EDT
Ironside
NBC- The Voice is still doing good numbers on Monday/Tuesday. The Blacklist is winning its timeslot, and was the first show (technically) to be rewarded with a back-nine pickup. Chicago Fire is also doing solid numbers on Tuesday. Revolution needs to regain some audience members if it wants a second season. With the success of The Blacklist, and Chicago Fire doing OK, Revolution is looking to be one of NBC’s weaker points right now. I can’t see it not running the full second season, but it might not get a third. Also, Ironside is definitely going to get cancelled. The premiere was so low, a...

The 2013 Fall TV Preview: The New Shows on The CW & CBS

August 30th, 2013 2:00pm EDT
The Originals
Les Moonves made a rare appearance at the TCAs and answered a popular question: how is The CW still functioning? The ratings are terrible. Mark Pedowitz points to social media scores and whatnot and talks up the new way of evaluating success, which is to ignore ratings and focus on likes and retweets or some such nonsense. Moonves bluntly said The CW continues to function because it doesn't lose money. Good enough for me.

The Originals' pilot aired in April. Of the other two new shows, Reign's pilot is better, but The Tomorrow People seems unlikely to fail whereas Reign is trying to captur...
