TV On DVD: 'Off The Map: The Complete Series'
This week, ABC Home Entertainment released the complete series of Off The Map, the next show from the people who brought you Grey's Anatomy. Here's my review of the three-disc set.
The Show
I'm going to be bluntly honest here: I don't like Grey's Anatomy. As such, I never watched its spinoff Private Practice. And knowing that it came from the same creative team, I didn't have high hopes for Off The Map.
Having watched the show now, I can see why it only lasted one season. It feels more like a shell of a program than a fully fleshed out one, even if you allow for it being a new serie...

"Off the Map" is a medical drama from the producers of “Grey’s Anatomy,” but it's different.
"Map" offers a rich, new cast of characters and the added trouble of a difficult location for the team of doctors. Theorized as Seattle Grace meets the South American rainforest, it stars Zach Gilford as a cocky plastic surgeon.
Valerie Cruz plays Zee, a feisty Hispanic doctor who acts as the mother hen to the group. Mamie Gummer plays Menard, the blonde version of "Anatomy's" Cristina Yang.

It’s almost May Sweeps, and season finales will be upon us faster than the networks can cancel soaps. Let’s break it down, network by network, of what succeeded – and what flopped – this TV season.
NBC
Let’s start with the weakest network. After the ‘Jay Leno Show’ debacle last season, NBC is still scrambling to find original programming that will net decent ratings.
‘Law & Order: Los Angeles’ has proved a disappointment, as evidenced by its massive overhaul and return to floundering ratings. The comedy ‘Outsourced’ is on the bubble, and shows such as ‘Chase’ and ‘Undercovers’ bombed ...

'Off the Map' Review: Not Just 'Grey’s Anatomy' In The Jungle
The season premiere “Off the Map," a new medical drama from the producers of “Grey’s Anatomy,” aired this week on ABC. Theorized as Seattle Grace meets the South American rainforest, can this new TV show keep up with the standards set by “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice" to hook its own set of loyal fans?
Series creator and writer Jenna Bans, executive producer Shonda Rhimes (of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Private Practice’ fame), and actor James George, who plays Otis Cole on the show, participated in a live Web chat via Facebook two days before the series premiere. The trio offered count...
