An MTV entry in the celebrity reality TV sweepstakes, this weekly series focused on the marriage of pop singers Jessica_Simpson and Nick_Lachey. Allowing cameras to invade their home, the lovebirds did the sort of things that newlyweds do in public: Billed and cooed, entertained friends, argued over household responsibilities. Of course, not every "typical" couple has been faced with the necessity of lining up concert dates and auditioning backup singers. Staged in the manner of a TV sitcom (with appropriate background music and audience "response"), Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica was supposed to have premiered on August 4, 2003, but for reasons unknown was held up until August 19.
