Fox Finally Whacks 'The Mob Doctor'

November 29th, 2012 9:45am EST
The Mob Doctor
Fox has put a hit out on The Mob Doctor. The network has confirmed that it won't order any additional episodes. The freshman drama has run its course.

It had to happen sooner or later. The Fox Network is cutting its losses. After months of struggling in the ratings, The Mob Doctor has been canceled. The series is one of the least-watched dramas on the major four networks.

According to Zap2it, The Mob Doctor averages 4.4 million viewers and a 1.3 in the 18–49 demo. With numbers like that, critics assumed it would have been pulled a while ago. But Fox stuck with it — until the network's han...

Fall TV Report Card: Grading 7 New and Returning Shows

November 21st, 2012 2:00pm EST
New Girl
Around this time of year, it’s important to give thanks for everything we have—good food, good family, and a cornucopia of new and returning television shows to love, like or downright hate, so I’m grading seven new and returning television shows...

"New Girl"

What sophomore slump? If you thought the comedy about the most adorable of dorks living with three guys was ripe with cleverness, eccentric humor and GIF-able moments in its first season, you weren’t prepared for the second. Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, and Lamorne Morris have bought the heat, the funny and...

Four Reasons to Give 'The Mob Doctor' A Second Chance

October 8th, 2012 1:50pm EDT
The Mob Doctor
One of the biggest things I’ve learned in life is never to give much weight to first impressions. If I did, I wouldn’t have ever hung out with a girl who came to be my best friend in high school, and a pretty good one today as I thought she was a tree-hugging weirdo and she thought I was stuck up. Both judgments couldn’t be further from the truth. This is the same reason why I give new television shows three chances to hook me. I’m so grateful that I have, otherwise I would have given up on some pretty spectacular shows, the most recent being Fox’s "The Mob Doctor" before the freshman d...

September 17th, 2012 12:55pm EDT
Jordana Spiro
Although My Boys is sadly no more, actress Jordana Spiro is back on our small screens in another series that's set in Chicago. On FOX's The Mob Doctor, she plays Dr. Grace Devlin, a successful surgeon who's reluctantly in with the mafia after her brother runs up a considerable debt. Recently, I caught up with Spiro and Mob Doctor executive producer Josh Berman to chat about shooting in the Windy City and what made them want to get involved with the mob.

What motivated Spiro's return to television? "I think there were a couple of reasons," she said. "Two things that really stood out ...

September 10th, 2012 1:05pm EDT
Stephen Amell
It’s the most wonderful time of the year. For many, that expression harkens up memories of a classic Christmas carol blaring though tinny mall speakers as you fight the crowds for the last three gifts on your lists. However, for this television blogger, Hollywood's newest crop of shows are all the presents I need. Judging strictly by the glittery wrapping that is their promos, here are my choices for this season’s can’t-miss new shows...

Arrow

In the past few years, The CW has made valiant attempts to broaden their roster beyond shows geared towards the Bieber set with smarter, sle...
