TV remakes are either hit-or-miss, but with hollywood lacking many new ideas (seems like every other show is a crime drama or takes place in a hospital these days) we've thought of a few classic shows that we think would make the cut and stick around for a while -- if they're done correctly.

Actress Heather Locklear was hospitalized in California on Thursday after medics received an emergency call from her home.

Locklear's sister reportedly dialed 911 from the Melrose Place star's property near Los Angeles, and the actress was taken to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center by ambulance.

It's that time of year again. The various networks are deciding what to keep and what to throw out as they put together their 2010-11 primetime schedules.

As usual, some shows are canceled early ("Eastwick," anyone?) while others eek it out through the season, desperate for renewal ("FlashForward," "Heroes," and so on).

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz wants to follow in her big sister Jessica's footsteps and design her own fashion range.

The singer/actress' career suffered a setback last month when she was dropped from the revamped TV show Melrose Place. She has since landed the part of Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago, reprising the role she performed on London's West End in 2006.

However, she is eager to turn her attention to the fashion industry and launch her own designs.

A source tells Star magazine, "Ashlee wants to start a clothing line. She wants it to be both preppy and punk rock....

The television networks are axing shows that aren't performing or haven't had a chance to perform (The Beautiful Life: TBL, Southland) and are giving full-season orders to those that are meeting expectations (Glee, FlashForward, etc.).

There are several new shows this year that are currently on the fence - and they could be either canceled or given a chance to find the necessary audience to keep them alive.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has been dropped from TV series Melrose Place. The singer/actress landed the role of Violet Foster, a small-town girl new to Los Angeles, in the remake of the 1990s soap opera.

But Simpson-Wentz's part has now been cut from the show, along with co-star Colin Egglesfield's character Auggie Kirkpatrick.

Executive producer Todd Slavkin says, "We felt that once the murder mystery (involving their characters) was resolved, the tone of the show was going to shift and (Simpson-Wentz's) character would move on."

Networks are either ordering additional episodes of their fledgling series or quietly letting them burn off until nobody notices they are gone. And some networks stayed cautiously conservative by looking back to previous television icons and failing miserably (we are talking to you, NBC).

The Spider-Man 3 star, 31, met the Melrose Place actress, 22, at a friend's Hollywood party in August and the couple has been spotted out on various dinner dates ever since.

Television networks and film companies are resurrecting TV shows and movies like 90210, Melrose Place, Halloween, and Transformers. This obsession with the 80s and 90s have lead to TV specials and debates about which decade is better. Both provided us with fascinating films to watch, memorable music to listen to, and new forms of entertainment that we still use today. But when it comes to entertainment, which decade was better?

Heather Locklear will reprise her role as scheming vixen Amanda Woodward of "Melrose Place," which airs Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on The CW. Locklear will make her debut appearance on the show Tuesday, November 17.

Looking at the CW's Tuesday line up, it's almost like getting a blast from the past: "90210" and "Melrose Place" on again? Is it the 90s? No, they're just two examples of the new television remakes blasting onto the screen, and they're not alone. "Eastwick," based on the "Witches of Eastwick" movie, premieres on September 23 on ABC, and "V" (premiering Nov. 3) is a remake of a canceled science fiction series. Now ABC has the rights to adapt "St. Elmo's Fire" from the popular film, and NBC is bringing back their detective drama from the 70s "The Rockford Files."

The "Melrose Place" remake opened to just 2.3 million viewers on Tuesday night, according to Variety.com.

The first new series of the fall television season debuted after the second season premiere of 90210, which had 2.56 million viewers overall.

Both shows performed decently among its intended target - young women. They finished second in their time slots with females aged 18-34.
