Bear Grylls is leaving Discovery Channel after six years on the air. According to an exclusive story by The Hollywood Reporter, Grylls and Discovery could not agree on appearances in two other unnamed projects.
Grylls' show, Man vs. Wild, premiered in 2006 and has been a hit ever since. Celebrity cameos included Jake Gyllenhaal, Will Ferrell and Ben Stiller. Grylls' online fandom grew when he began to eat and drink from natural sources - the most extreme being liquid squeezed from elephant dung and infamously drinking his own urine.

Jake Gyllenhaal Lives Dangerously On 'Man vs. Wild'
"No more time thinking. It's time to do it."
Jake Gyllenhaal doesn't sound too convinced of his own convictions when he decides to hang by a rope above a huge gorge in the middle of inclement weather, but hey, he goes through with it!
For an A-list movie star, Gyllenhaal makes for a pretty good rugged outdoorsman/ adventurer as he joins Bear Grylls for the season premiere of Discovery's "Man vs. Wild." The death-defying Prince of Persia himself would be impressed as Jake takes on Iceland’s mountains, huge glaciers and active volcanoes.

Surviving Survivalist Television: 'Man Vs. Wild' Versus 'Survivorman'
At the age of 23 Bear Grylls was the youngest climber ever to ascend the summit at Mount Everest. Recently Bear drank his own urine for the amusement of thousands of television viewers. In 2000 Grylls traveled around the island of the United Kingdom on a jet ski. While filming in the African savannah Bear took a hearty bite out of a recently deceased zebra. In 2003 he led the first-ever unassisted crossing of the North Atlantic Arctic Ocean by boat. This past fall Bear skinned and disemboweled a camel then used the empty carcass for shelter.
