Malcolm in the Middle is a series about a dysfunctional family. Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) is an ordinary kid with a genius IQ. He has a difficult time coping with his parents and siblings but he has even more problems once he starts receiving special treatment at school for his higher-than-average intelligence. His favorite brother is Francis, who was sent to military school for discipline problems. There is also Reese, a kid who likes to fight, and Dewey, who is "trapped somewhere between toddler and hamster."
