'Mad Men' Star Alison Brie Loves Sex, Money And Her Second Grade Teacher

April 16th, 2013 9:05pm EDT
Alison Brie
Actress Alison Brie, who does double-duty starring on AMC's hit series Mad Men and on NBC's Community, shows her sexy curves in the May 2013 issue of Esquire magazine.

The 30-year-old actress shared a long list of the things she loves with the magazine, from sex to her second grade teacher, Mrs. Carlson.

Alison, whose real last name is Schermerhorn, says she loves her surname, but can't stand it when people don't pronounce it correctly.

"[T]he mispronunciation of it is like nails on a chalkboard," she says. "It starts S-c-h, so everybody pronounces it as if it were Shermerhorn. But it sh...

Christina Hendricks Worked As Florist During 'Mad Men' Break

April 5th, 2013 11:09am EDT
Christina Hendricks
Mad Men star Christina Hendricks indulged her passion for flowers by working as a florist during a break from shooting the hit TV show.

Hendricks, who shot to fame playing officer manager Joan in the drama, has always harbored an ambition to show off her green-fingered skills, so she took a job in a flower shop during her time off. The actress admits her co-stars were stunned when they spotted her working in the store, but she was happy to arrange bouquets for them.

She tells Flare magazine, "I always wanted to be a florist. Unless you're buying flowers for a funeral, you're only going ...

Are Jon Hamm's Private Parts A Problem For 'Mad Men's' Wardrobe Department?

March 21st, 2013 5:00pm EDT
Jon Hamm in Mad Men
Apparently Jon Hamm has a problem most men would like. His private parts are so prominent, the people behind "Mad Men" have asked him to put on underwear while filming.

An AMC insider told the New York Daily News: "This season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination. Jon's impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear."

The source added that Hamm's "privates are the inside joke" on the show, and he "knows what he's got." Well now apparently the whole world knows too!

In the past, the marketing team has a...

Christina Hendricks
Several celebrities attended the season 6 premiere of "Mad Men" in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Christina Hendricks showed off her curves in a black velvet dress and ruby red shoes.

Elisabeth Moss, who plays Peggy Olson, looked anything but dowdy in a low-cut little black dress and peep-toe heels. January Jones (Betty Draper) wore a simple blue and white sleeveless dress, while Jessica Pare (Megan Draper) made a statement in a vibrant, blue and pink floral gown.

The new season of "Mad Men" kicks off Sunday, April 7 at 9 p.m. ET with a two-hour premiere. The following week, the series will re...

'Mad Men' Star Elisabeth Moss Debuts New Blonde Pixie Cut

August 22nd, 2012 8:50am EDT
Elisabeth Moss
The bottled blonde pixie cut seems to be a popular hairstyle these days. Elisabeth Moss attended the "For a Good Time, Call..." New York City premiere yesterday showing off her new 'do.

The actress, a natural brunette, wore a black lace gown with beige pumps. Her "Mad Men" character, Peggy Olson, appears to have been written off the series, so perhaps that gave Moss the freedom to experiment with her hair.

She isn't the only actress who has recently opted for a drastic hairstyle change. Earlier this month Miley Cyrus chopped her hair off and tweeted various photos of her newly shorn blond...

Alex Bledel Finds Love With 'Mad Men' Co-Star Vincent Kartheiser

June 21st, 2012 12:17am EDT
Actress Alexis Bledel has found love with her Mad Men co-star Vincent Kartheiser.

The Gilmore Girls star made a guest appearance on the hit TV drama as the sex-starved mistress of Kartheiser's business executive character Pete Campbell earlier this year - and the pair's onscreen chemistry has now spilled over into real life.

The 33 year old was spotted in the audience at a performance of Off-Broadway show Regrets, which features Bledel, in March, and just last week the couple was reportedly caught sharing a smooch during a Los Angeles-bound flight from New York.

A source tells Us Weekly ...

TV Ratings: 'Mad Men' Ends Up, 'True Blood' Premieres Down

June 13th, 2012 8:41pm EDT
'Mad Men'
CBS dominated an early summer week with reruns. Lots of reruns. Which CBS shows made the Top 20? The better question is, which show didn’t? Programs at the top include ‘NCIS,’ ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ ‘Person of Interest’ and ‘Mike & Molly.’

The other networks could boast a little bit, too. The two editions of ‘America’s Got Talent’ took the top two spots, while ABC scored with ‘The Bachelorette’ on Monday and ‘Concert for the Queen.’ And FOX registered with summer stalwart ‘So You Think You Can Dance,’ which was good for 11th place.

On cable, ‘True Blood’ returned with 5.2 million viewers,...

'Mad Men's' Fifth Season Finale Drew Biggest Audience Ever

June 12th, 2012 8:23am EDT
Mad Men
For AMC, "Mad Men" has been a resounding success. And now the show has added another feather to its cap.

On the fifth season finale on Sunday night, 2.7 million viewers tuned in to see how Don, Peter, Joan, Roger et al dealt with the suicide of their colleague Lane Pryce, according to The Telegraph.

This season an average of 2.6 million people tuned in to each episode, an increase of 15 percent over the fourth season. It's rare for a show that's been around so long to draw additional viewers. Some credit the long stretch between seasons and the availability of previous seasons on DVD and ...

'Mad Men' Finale: 'The Phantom' Of A Season Ender

June 11th, 2012 8:33pm EDT
'Mad Men'
‘Mad Men’ showrunner and writer Matthew Weiner clearly enjoys ambiguity. There are no easy answers on the show, and if he wants viewers to talk about the meaning of things, he usually succeeds. With last night’s season finale, ‘The Phantom,’ he does it again, although as a finale the episode wasn’t particularly eventful, and some might say it lacked… finality.

So what is that “phantom,” anyway? Is it that unease gnawing at Don after Lane’s suicide that takes the form of pain from a toothache? Is it Lane? Is it Pete’s mistress, Beth, who is a ghost of her former self after electro-shock the...

Study In Scarlett: Get To Know 'Mad Men's' Sadie Alexandru

June 10th, 2012 12:00pm EDT
Sadie Alexandru
Who was that new secretary in the boardroom this season on Mad Men? That's actress Sadie Alexandru as Scarlett on the critically acclaimed AMC series. Before tonight's season finale, I took the opportunity to get to know her a little better.

Although she's sworn to secrecy when it comes to what you'll see tonight, "It was beyond cool," she said of the experience. "I couldn't be more thrilled. At this point in my life, it really was my dream job. I've been a fan of the show since the beginning.

"I had many people over the years tell me, "You know, you look like you could be on Mad Men." Wh...

'Mad Men' Star Jared Harris Shocked By Season Finale

June 4th, 2012 11:51pm EDT
Jared Harris
*** Spoiler Alert *** Actor Jared Harris was left shocked and stunned when he learned his Mad Men character Lane Pryce would be found hanging from the ceiling of his office in the hit drama series.

The British star's shocking exit aired on Sunday night and he still recalls the awkward chat he had with series creator Matthew Weiner when he first realized his character would be departing the show.

He tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Matt told me after the read-through for episode 10. He always asks people to stick around after the read-through to answer questions you may have. He said, 'Hang ...

'Mad Men': 'Fees And Commissions' - And Beginnings And Endings

June 4th, 2012 8:57pm EDT
'Mad Men'
With ‘Fees and Commissions,’ ‘Mad Men’ did what it does best: Telling a melancholy – no, tragic – story quite matter-of-factly. It was shocking even though we all probably saw a lot of it coming. It was both sympathetic and heartless, and it showed how television can juxtapose images and storylines to masterful effect.

This episode is about beginnings and endings. The young and the not-so-young. It features characters rejuvenated with confidence and others completely drained of it. And at the center of the story, fittingly and sadly, is Lane Pryce.

In the beginning, it starts off quite al...

'Mad Men' Recap: 'The Other Woman,' Joan's Sacrifice And Peggy's Bombshell

May 28th, 2012 6:03pm EDT
Mad Men
Who do you think is the identity of ‘The Other Woman’? Is it Joan, who offers herself to another man for enough money to change her life? Is it Peggy, who is in some way Don’s emotional mistress? Is it Pete’s love affair with Manhattan? Or is it Jaguar, that thing of beauty that can at last be truly owned?

Joan and Jaguar’s stories are intertwined. Don and his staff (excluding Peggy, who is in charge of all other accounts) are struggling to come up with a memorable and sellable tagline. It’s decided that the luxury car should be viewed as a mistress of sorts, but should never be mentioned ...

'Mad Men' Recap: 'Christmas Waltz,' Flirting And Back Taxes

May 21st, 2012 7:18pm EDT
'Mad Men'
Is it just me, or is ‘Christmas Waltz’ one of the weakest ‘Mad Men’ episodes all season? It’s not because of the characters featured (Harry, Joan and Lane, primarily). I think it’s because one gets the sense that this episode is moving the show along toward the season finale, but as a dramatic arc in itself, it falls flat.

Let’s look back at what happens. Lane is informed by his attorney in England that he owes a crapload of back taxes. Lane panics and resorts to desperate measures. He gets SCDP’s bank manager to extend $50,000 in credit, then tells the execs that a $50,000 surplus should ...

Jessica Pare Thought 'Mad Men' Role Was Going To Be Short-Term

May 15th, 2012 11:25pm EDT
Jessica Pare
Mad Men star Jessica Pare had no idea how big a part she had landed when she was first cast as Jon Hamm's receptionist on the hit TV show and was convinced her character would be fired from episode to episode.

The actress was brought in as advertising executive Don Draper's office assistant Megan in the fourth season of the period drama, and the two characters embarked on a love affair which resulted in marriage, bringing Pare back for the current season five.

But Pare insists she wasn't worried about being written out of the program - she was content just watching Hamm and his leading co...

'Mad Men' Recap: 'Dark Shadows' And Desperation All Around

May 14th, 2012 8:57pm EDT
January Jones
In ‘Dark Shadows,’ Betty grows jealous and irritable while trying to watch her weight, Pete fantasizes about a virtual stranger amid his failures, and Don does something almost as underhanded as Betty. You know the end of the season is approaching when characters get evermore desperate.

Let’s start with Betty. She’s faithfully attending Weight Watchers meetings and seems slimmer since the last time we saw her. It’s clearly a strain on her: She catches herself spraying whipped cream into her mouth straight out of the fridge and results to telling Sally one of Don’s secrets out of jealousy ...

'Mad Men' Recap: 'Lady Lazarus' And Office Angst

May 7th, 2012 8:26pm EDT
Mad Men
There’s a lot of angst at the heart of ‘Lady Lazarus.’ Megan can’t stand advertising and yearns to return to acting; Pete is apparently unhappy in his marriage and seeks another lover; and Peggy grows upset about Megan’s departure and the way she thinks Don takes it out on her.

Let’s back up. Megan is downright secretive throughout the first half of the episode. She’s clearly hiding something from everyone, but just what is unclear until Peggy catches her in a lie. Megan tells Don that she’s working late, but then tells Peggy that Don wants her home for dinner. A flustered Peggy avoids mul...

'Mad Men' Recap: 'At The Codfish Ball' And Sally's Quick Adulthood

April 30th, 2012 9:59pm EDT
Kiernan Shipka
Sally Draper is perhaps the most mature person in many of her scenes in ‘Mad Men,’ even though she’s just a kid. There’s a lot going on behind those eyes, never more so than in ‘At the Codfish Ball.’ Sally is thrown into extremely adult situations, yet she remains composed. She appropriately calls everything she’s experienced in the city “dirty.”

The reason she’s involved in much of the episode is because Henry’s mother breaks her ankle after tripping over a cord, and Sally performs well under pressure. Betty and her husband are not mentioned, so they’re God-knows-where. Sally and her sibl...

Jon Hamm Rocks A Beard At Can-Do Awards

April 18th, 2012 10:30am EDT
Jon Hamm
He's famous for playing the clean shaven Don Draper on "Mad Men," but Jon Hamm likes to shake it up every so often and grow some facial hair. He's done it before and he's done it again.

The TV heartthrob and long-time girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt attended the Can-Do Awards Gala in New York City on Tuesday. Jon hammed it up for the cameras with his new fuzzy face.

Parade Magazine recently revealed what the actor earned as a waiter before he landed his famous TV gig: a mere $14,000.

See more photos of Jon...

'Mad Men' Christina Hendricks 'Joan' Hair How-To

April 17th, 2012 2:22am EDT
"Mad Men" Hair Department Head Stylist Terrie V. Owen reveals her on-set hair how-to for achieving Christina Hendricks' signature "Joan" style.

You will need:

A curling iron or you can set your hair in large sized hot rollers

A teasing comb

A natural bristle hair brush like a Mason Pearson

Bobby pins

Setting spray like White Sands Liquid Texture Thermal Styling Spray

This style is best for long hair, at least shoulder length or longer.

I like to set the hair with my favorite, White Sands Liquid Texture Thermal Styling, and then with a 1 inch large barrel curli...

'Mad Men' Recap: 'Signal 30' And Pete's Downward Spiral

April 16th, 2012 8:27pm EDT
Mad Men
“I have everything,” Pete Campbell says to himself in ‘Signal 30.’ And by the finale, the petals have certainly fallen off the rose.

All seems to be going well for him. He’s attracted to a young student in his driver’s ed class, where they both laugh at the instructional video (titled ‘Signal 30’); he feels like a handyman after he fixes a leaky faucet in the middle of the night; and Don finally “accepts” his invitation to come over for dinner (“Accepts” meaning he calls to cancel, but Trudy won’t let him out of it).

Ken, meanwhile, somewhat secretly disses Peggy at a café, where she thin...

'Mad Men' Recap: 'Mystery Date' And Don's Feverish Dream

April 9th, 2012 10:18pm EDT
Mad Men
Who is the ‘Mystery Date’ in the latest ‘Mad Men’ episode? In a way, this episode is all about strange companion pairings: Don and his former “acquaintance” Andrea; Peggy and Dawn; Sally and Henry’s mother; and, let’s say it, Joan and her husband.

Let’s start with Joan. Greg finally returns from his domestic tour, and it’s no surprise that he’s still a jerk. He’s barely acquainted with his son (well, not really his son, but you know what I mean) before he’s in the bedroom with Joan. (By the way, if she ever hosted a modern day sex talk show, not that she ever would, that would be a fitting...

'Mad Men' Recap: 'Tea Leaves' - Betty Has Weight And Health Issues

April 2nd, 2012 8:05pm EDT
Mad Men
Here are two words I never thought would go together on ‘Mad Men’: Fat Betty. Unseen in the season premiere, Betty has indeed plumped up. She’s clearly upset about it and doesn’t seem to know what to do with herself. Her mother unhelpfully suggests she try diet pills, while her doctor at first tells her that sudden weight gain is a common problem for bored housewives. What a simple explanation.

But then he finds a lump in Betty’s throat, and then “Betty might have thyroid cancer” lingers through the episode. In the end, she apparently finds out she doesn’t have it and tells her husband she...

Jon Hamm Arrived In Hollywood Broke On Thanksgiving Day

March 31st, 2012 9:03am EDT
Jon Hamm
"Mad Men" star Jon Hamm first arrived in Hollywood having spent his way through his last $150 - only to find he had nowhere to stay.

The actor gave up his dreams of becoming a professional sportsman and decided to give Tinseltown a shot, so he called his late mother's sister and asked her if she could put him up until he found work.

She agreed and Hamm set off from his home in Missouri in his beat-up Toyota Corolla for the cross-country trek, mapping out his route via friends' homes, so he didn't have to pay for food or accommodation.

But he didn't time his arrival well: "I pulled into t...

TV Ratings: 'NCIS' Tops, 'Mad Men' Sets Record

March 29th, 2012 10:10am EDT
Mad Men
The return of fresh episodes of ‘NCIS’ vaulted CBS to the top of the ratings heap this week, but every network had something to cheer about. For the first time in who knows how long, each network had at least one show in the Top 7. You might guess that NBC’s top entry was ‘The Voice.’

FOX, of course, had two editions of ‘American Idol’ in the Top 5, and the return of ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ while down from the last installment, was the Number 2 program for the week. Its performance propelled ‘Castle’ into the Top 10. Likewise, FOX’s Kiefer Sutherland drama ‘Touch’ eked out a spot i...

'Mad Men's' Rendition Of 'Zou Bisou Bisou' A Hit On iTunes

March 27th, 2012 9:14am EDT
Jessica Pare
"Mad Men" star Jessica Pare's rendition of Gillian Hills' 1960s tune "Zou Bisou Bisou" has shot to the top of iTunes' download list after the actress performed the French pop tune on the season premiere of the hit drama on Sunday.

Pare performed the tune in character as Megan Draper at a birthday party and her version of the song, which Sophia Loren performed in "The Millionairess," was one of the most in-demand downloads on Monday.

A limited edition seven-inch single of the recording is available to fans of the show via the Mad Men website.
