Trey Songz comes to Lincoln Heights, much to the delight of aspiring musician Tay. Jenn cannot shake what she thinks is the flu, Cassie pressures Charles to get serious about life after high school, and Eddie's father makes an unexpected visit. Trey Songz holds a contest and Tay dazzles him with an inspired performance. But, when Eddie's father-son project coincides with his big night, Tay must choose between his dream and his father's feelings. The family chips in to help Jenn through her illness, while Charles admits to Cassie that he has not made any real plans for his future.

The Gathering Storm/Lucky
Eddie tracks down the source of the money in the attic: a cop in his department. Charles figures out his future and family situation. Music brings a resolution to the racial strife threatened by the school play.
Cassie and Charles learn that police suspect foul play in the death of Charles' stepfather during the devastating earthquake that rocked Lincoln Heights. Eddie is concerned that Charles is taking his daughter down a dangerous path, and Cassie feels pressure to choose between her relationship and her family. Tay is ill and is taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, Eddie and Jenn make the tough decision to leave their home due to financial distress after the earthquake.
Lizzie is caught in the middle of a local drug ring while trying to help a young friend from the Boys and Girls Club. Tay works to find a local thief known as the "Bandana Bandit." Charles becomes aware of major differences between his younger brother and himself. Cassie has to face her parents' disappointment after defying their rules.
Persons of Interest
Cassie and Charles are targets of more police scrutiny as the real cause of Mac's demise becomes clear; Tay is overwhelmed with resentment over the bond between Nate Ray and Eddie. Charles feels that no one will believe the truth about Mac's death, while Cassie works to prove that she will not abandon him. The fight between Tay and Nate Ray leads to a family rift. Lizzie is stuck between popularity and doing the right thing and Jenn can no longer hide her discomfort about Eddie's friendship with Dana.
Time to Let Go
The Suttons awake to a new day and a whole lot of cash. But their windfall is cut short when Eddie does the right thing and turns the "mystery money" over. After some forensic investigation, the source of the money is revealed. Charles decides to reconnect with his long-lost father. Lizzie volunteers at the Lincoln Heights Outreach Program, but a kind gesture with a stuffed animal takes her in an unexpected direction.
Bully for You
Cassie accepts an invitation to spend her 18th birthday in New York City. Tay struggles to do the right thing while dealing with a school bully, Lizzie auditions for the school play and the whole family rallies around Jen in the hospital. When Aunt Naomie sends a first-class airplane ticket, Cassie jets off to Manhattan for her 18th birthday. Meanwhile, Tay's friendship with Malik is jeopardized when they disagree on how to handle a school bully. Lizzie decides to audition for the school play despite the taunts of her rivals and, Jen recuperates in the hospital while waiting for a diagnosis on her recent illness.
Bishop returns for revenge. Charles makes a decision about the money.
