Composer John Cacavas dies aged 83

Acclaimed TV and film composer John Cacavas has died at the age of 83.

He passed away on Tuesday (28Jan14) at his home in Beverly Hills. No further details of his death have been released.

Cacavas kicked off his composing career in 1972 with the feature film Horror Express, starring Christopher Lee, and went on to score two movies in the Airport film franchise - Airport 1975 and Airport '77.

Thanks to his close friendship with Kojak actor Telly Savalas, he acted as the composer on his pal's crime drama series for all five seasons, earning an Emmy nomination for Original Music for a Serie...

Vin Diesel To Star In Big-Screen Remake Of 'Kojak'

New reports claim Vin Diesel is bringing legendary TV detective Kojak to the big screen.

In the 1970s late actor Telly Savalas portrayed the beloved New York cop on TV and in a number of TV movies that followed. The franchise may now be revitalized by "The Fast and The Furious" star.

"Skyfall" writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will write the script, while Diesel will produce the project with his One Race Films partner Samantha Vincent for Universal Pictures, according to Deadline.com.

Ving Rhames played Kojak in a failed TV revamp in 2005, but the show was axed after just one season.

'Monk' Psychiatrist Stanley Kamel Dies

Actor Stanley Kamel has been found dead of a suspected heart attack. The 65-year-old was reportedly discovered by his longtime agents in his Hollywood Hills home on Tuesday afternoon. Los Angeles emergency services responded to a 911 call made at Kamel's home shortly before 4 p.m.

Kamel is best known for starring in numerous TV shows like The West Wing, Six Feet Under and Beverly Hills, 90210. In recent years he became known as eccentric detective Adrian Monk's psychiatrist in hit show Monk.
