This afternoon, NBC announced a breakthrough plan for fall 2009 that is unlike any other line-up ever produced.

Kevin McKidd has joined the cast of ABC's popular drama "Grey's Anatomy." McKidd first appeared as Major Owen Hunt in this season's premiere episode of "Grey's Anatomy,"

During the 2007-2008 television season, the major networks premiered thirty-four new series, but only eleven of those shows will be coming back for a second run.

You've got to hand it to NBC. The once mighty network has been reduced to a perennial loser, regularly coming in behind the rest of the Big Four in every conceivable metric. So instead of trying in vain to come from behind in a game being dominated by CBS and Fox, NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman and company are taking a different approach. They are changing the way the game is played.

Due to the writers strike, many shows stayed on the air this fall even though their ratings were poor. The future doesn't look so good for programs such as Bionic Woman, Journeyman, and K-Ville. There are, however, several dramas that cemented their places in our "must see" lists.

While most of us might enjoy watching a good primetime drama show like "Law & Order," "CSI" or "Grey's Anatomy" we cannot forget that there are also some amazing sci-fi shows currently playing on television.

We're a few weeks into the new fall season, and I have to say that I am a little disappointed. Many new shows seemed promising, but I just haven't seen one that could be a runaway hit.
