Reflecting With The Ladies Of 'In Plain Sight'
As USA's In Plain Sight comes to an end, I joined the cast members at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles to celebrate the series.
Before a panel discussion, stars Mary McCormack (U.S. Marshal Mary Shannon) and Rachel Boston (Det. Abigail Chaffee), as well as recurring actresses Tangie Ambrose (U.S. Marshal Delia Parmalee) and Ali Marsh (Dr. Shelley Finkel), joined me to talk about what they'll take away from being a part of the hit original series and their favorite memories.

'Hawaii Five-0' Recap: 'Ike Maka' (2.09)
An admission: I love the Fast & Furious films. So give me Hawaii Five-0 taking after the Fast & Furious films, and I'm a happy girl.
The show opens big, with Honolulu Police cruisers trying to catch a speedy flame-red set of wheels and finding a whole host of beautiful cars inside locked shipping containers. One of them has a dead body sans fingerprints in the trunk. This allows us to use Hawaii's car culture as the episode's backdrop. (It also means Lauren German gets primped as if she's trying to channel Michelle Rodriguez - if Rodriguez's Letty had driven a bait car.) There are ...

Allison Janney Goes From Political Heavyweight to Politically Incorrect on Mr. Sunshine
According to Allison Janney, it only took one line of dialogue to convince her to return to series television after a four-year absence.
"'Have you seen a small white pill with some Spanish written on it?'" she said, quoting her Mr. Sunshine character. "I read the first line that Crystal said and I knew I was going to play it."
After playing White House press secretary (and later Chief of Staff) C.J. Cregg on The West Wing for six seasons, the 51-year-old actress says she was looking for a role as far from the morally upright C.J. as possible. Crystal is the pill-popping, narcissistic ow...

'Royal Pains' Set Visit, Q&A & Season Two Spotlight
USA's famous tagline "Characters Welcome" means that it is a channel not only dedicated to entertaining audiences, but that the entertainment might be a little more quirky than most television. This is a welcome change from stations that churn out the same mind numbing procedurals year after year. With Monk, In Plain Sight, Psych, and Burn Notice, they've introduced amusing and memorable characters who come from popular genres (detective, spy, action) with a unique spin.
One of their newest successes is a show titled Royal Pains, a medical show set in the Hamptons that blends a little Hous...

Q&A: Liz Phair Discusses 'In Plain Sight' Musical Role, Hitting The Road & More
Before Miley Cyrus worked the stripper pole, there was indie rock artist Liz Phair who enjoyed teasing listeners with songs about getting down and dirty. Blonde and rail thin, the rebellious singer appears on her iconic 1994 cover for her debut album Exile in Guyville bare chested and howling. With lyrics like “I want be your blowjob queen,” the two-time Grammy Award winner enjoyed talking about sex more than pubescent boys, but also sympathized with teenage girls frustrated over settling for less.
While Phair fascinated audiences like any true rock star, she went the domestic route and ga...

Pre-Season 2009 TV Report Card: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Since CNN has such a blast creating a report card to track the Presidency, we decided to have some fun with television. Which networks come out strong and which ones need to do better homework?
MAJOR NETWORKS
ABC: B
The Good: The dramas are what keep us coming back to ABC. Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, FlashForward, and V are worth looking forward to. The one comedy that stands out and may hold itself against NBC's stellar comedies, Modern Family, is worth a few episodes past the pilot.
The Bad: Dancing With The Stars is extremely popular, however sometimes too much of a ...

Move Over NBC, USA Is Stealing Your Glory
In the world of television, the big networks - NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX - are typically considered to be the "A" team, or the major leaguers of TV stations. Now they have a bit of competition.
The network we are most confused by is NBC. NBC used to be a ratings powerhouse with its "Must See TV" marketing campaigns. Weeknights were appointment television nights for millions of viewers tuning in first in the genesis of it all, the 1980s with Hill Street Blues, The Cosby Show, Cheers, and LA Law. The 1990s came in strong with ER, Friends, Frasier, Mad About You, Seinfeld, and the last of...

Give USA Network's 'Royal Pains' A Try
On Thursday, June 4, a new original series on USA will premiere titled Royal Pains, starring Mark Feuerstein, Paulo Costanzo, Reshma Shetty, and Jill Flint. I got a chance to see the pilot episode a little early, and the show might not quite join the "Characters Welcome USA" slogan right at first. Hank Lawson (Feuerstein) is not as memorable or charismatic as Adrian Monk or Michael Weston, but he's a good man you want to like put in an unfair position.
As a rising star in the medical world, Hank makes a call to save the life of a young man instead of focusing on a powerful hospital pa...
