'Fairly Legal' Star Michael Trucco Returns To 'How I Met Your Mother'

July 23rd, 2012 8:05pm EDT
Fairly Legal
Michael Trucco will be getting more than a cameo on CBS' How I Met Your Mother. After an all-too-brief appearance in the season six episode "Hopeless," the actor will return in the comedy's upcoming eighth season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HIMYM showrunners sought to bring Trucco's character back in the show's seventh season, but the actor's obligations to his regular role on USA's Fairly Legal prevented that from happening. Now he'll be present for multiple episodes in season eight.

Trucco currently plays Assistant District Attorney Justin Patrick on Fairly Legal, and should...

TV Report Card: Grading 10 Season Finales

May 25th, 2012 12:07pm EDT
Revenge Cast
Season finales are essentially the Hollywood version of final exams. They have to shock and awe and entice viewers into returning after four arduous months of dead air. From births and deaths to break-ups and OMG-worthy shockers, I’m grading 10 season finales. The SPOILER ALERT is implied.

Reckoning, Revenge’s thrilling season ender saw Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) not only confront her father’s killer in a satisfying and strangely sweet final fight, but surrender to her feelings for ruggedly handsome bartender, Jack. It wouldn’t be “Revenge” without infuriating twists and double-c...

If the latest TV ratings week was a final exam, CBS would get an A+ and NCIS would graduate at the top of the class. The stalwart once again topped the Nielsen ratings, besting all other scripted and reality programming, even as American Idol geared up for its finale.

‘NCIS’ attracted over 19 million viewers and spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles got over 15 million. By comparison, the Wednesday and Thursday editions of "Idol' attracted 17.7 million and 16.4 million, respectively.

CBS had 12 of the Top 20 shows, including Person of Interest, The Mentalist and How I Met Your Mother. Mike & Molly ac...

How I Met Your Mother wrapped up its seventh season in a two-part finale on Monday night. Last week, Marshall was getting really stressed out about becoming a father. To take his mind off things, Barney took Marshall down to Atlantic City. Unfortunately, Lily goes into labor a month early. Barney and Marshall are stuck in AC too inebriated to get home.

Eventually Barney and Marshall find a bus going to “New York.” When they finally sober up, they realize that their bus is in fact going to Buffalo, NY. The guys explain the situation to the bus driver, but he says he isn’t allowed to ...

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has turned down the chance to play actor Jason Segel's mom on hit TV comedy How I Met Your Mother.

The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star publicly appealed to Clinton to play his on-screen character Marshall Eriksen's mother during a March interview, but the busy politician has politely declined the offer, although she admits she fully intends on starring opposite the funnyman in the future when her schedule dies down.

Internet blog Politico has obtained a copy of Clinton's rejection letter, which reads, "I was delighted to read about your interest in...

How I Met Your Mother continued the lead up to Barney’s wedding with new episodes each of the last two weeks written by long-time staff writers.

I particularly liked last week’s “Trilogy Time,” written by Kourtney Kang. Ted and Marshall had gotten together to watch the Star Wars trilogy every three years, and it always prompted them to imagine what life would be like three years in the future. Ted revealed that when the guys got together to watch it in 2012, it was the first time he had lost hope that his life would be better in three years. However, in 2015 his life would be great. W...

New 'HIMYM': Barney Makes Ted Take The Broath

After a short break How I Met Your Mother returned last night with an all new episode written by the show’s co-creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. The last episode left us with Ted (Josh Radnor) in a transition. Robin (Cobie Smulders) told him that she didn’t love him, and as a result she moved out of the apartment above MacLaren’s. Ted, sensing that he needed a change too, gave the apartment back to Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and began looking for a new place.

Of course the other big storyline of the last few episodes was Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Quin...

10 Favorite Small Screen Scene-Stealers

I once had dreams of becoming an Emmy-Winning actress, but thanks to a traumatizing audition for a middle school drama club and being roughly a few inches shy of Snooki-esque shortness, those dreams never panned out. I’m happy to leave the acting to the professionals, and admire their work as a fan and critic. For this television-aholic, there’s nothing better than beholding a great actor who steals every frame of their scenes.

Here is a list of my favorite scene-stealers:

'HIMYM': Ted And Robin Back Together?

Earlier in the season, older Ted (voiced by Bob Saget) alluded that a lot of changes were coming for him and the gang, but none of it could happen until the feelings were resolved between him, Barney, and Robin. Victoria told him that this thing the three of them were doing isn’t going to work. Before he could move forward, Ted had to go back to the beginning one more time.

At the end of last week’s episode he professed his love for Robin once again. “No pressure,” Ted says, “Just let me know what you think.” Before anything can really be hashed out, Robin is whisked away on a busine...

There were some big moments Monday night on a brand new HIMYM. Definitely do not read on if you don’t want any spoilers!

The episode began with Barney once again trying to close the deal with a floozy at MacLaren’s. Before he can, Ted whisks him away to wingman for him with a different girl and her friend. The girl, Quinn, appears to be falling for Barney’s old tricks, but she was just playing along while her friend and Ted were hitting it off. She calls Barney out for being pathetic and lays out a bunch of things that she bets he does… almost like she already knew Barney beforehand.

How I Met Your Mother returned with a new episode last night, kicking off sweeps month for CBS. Expectations are running high, with HIMYM in its highest ratings season ever. Things got a little more crowded on Monday nights as the second season of The Voice moved into its new timeslot across the dial on NBC. The Peacock went for the bold move of premiering the singing reality competition right after Super Bowl XLVI, and over 40 million people stuck around after the game to watch. It will certainly be one of the more interesting ratings showdowns of the season.

It looked like Robin and Barney were opening up new chapters in their lives. Robin (Cobie Smulders) was in a relationship with Kevin (Kal Penn), and things seemed to be going really well between Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Nora (Nozanin Boniadi). However, at the end of last week’s episode Barney and Robin made out in the back of a cab. I, for one, was kind of upset about this turn of events because I was really rooting for the Barney-Nora relationship, and didn’t know what this meant for their future.

Katie also recently appeared on an episode of "How I Met Your Mother" as the slutty pumpkin.
