TV Book Club Q&A: Howard Gordon's 'Hard Target'
Howard Gordon, the TV writer-producer who's been a part of so many fabulous shows, has hit the bulls-eye again with his second novel, Hard Target.
There's no doubt that Gordon is in the top class of TV scribes. His credits include sci-fi staple The X-Files, the underappreciated The Inside, the phenomenon that was 24, and last TV season's clear number one drama Homeland - plus, I give him bonus points for trying to bring my favorite British series Ultraviolet to American television. But being a great TV writer doesn't necessarily make a great novelist: while it's the same general trade, it'...

Claire Danes' Husband Skipped Golden Globes For Bachelor Party
Hugh Dancy missed out on celebrating wife Claire Danes' Golden Globes glory on Sunday night because he was hosting his brother's bachelor bash in London.
The star picked up the Best Actress in a Dramatic TV Series prize for her turn in "Homeland," but she was left to party with pals as Dancy was unable to make the Los Angeles awards ceremony due to his family commitment.
She tells E! News, "My husband has just been hosting his brother's bachelor weekend in London. He'll tune in tomorrow. We left a message (to tell him I won)."

2012 Golden Globes Fashion: Who Rocked The Red Carpet & Who Didn't?
The Golden Globes are the first big awards show of the season, and the stars came out in colorful ensembles to attend one of Hollywood's most prestigious events leading up to the Academy Awards.
There were very few fashion missteps at this year's event. "Homeland" actress Morena Baccarin wore a daring black dress that showed quite a bit of cleavage (is that appropriate?), while "Ringer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar took a chance with a blue and white tie-dyed gown (too bohemian?).
There wasn't a lot of flash on the red carpet. Few stars wore sequins (Laura Dern, Madonna, Diane Lane and did)...

The 11 Best From 2011
2011 was a fantastic year for entertainment. Here are my eleven favorite things from the year that's about to wrap, in chronological order...
1. Southland, TNT
(Season 3 began January 4)
I have to admit that I didn't keep up with TNT's gritty Los Angeles cop drama as much as I would have liked; it fell victim to sharing Tuesday nights with three other shows on my watch list. Yet when I did find time to catch it, I was no less than impressed every time.
There's been talk about the show's TV-MA content (allegedly the reason that NBC axed it), but the real talking point should be the st...

'La Femme Nikita': Where Are They Now?
Nikita fans are enjoying La Femme Nikita star Alberta Watson's juicy role on the new series - but what are the rest of LFN's talented cast and crew up to?
Show creators Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran went on to create FOX's smash hit 24, which revolutionized TV during its eight-year run on FOX. Surnow went on, with director Jon Cassar, to the controversial miniseries The Kennedys, while Cochran is rumored to have written a script for a possible 24 movie.
Composer Sean Callery followed Surnow and Cochran to 24, winning critical acclaim for his score work. He currently scores Showtime's n...

TV Book Club Q&A: Danielle Turchiano Talks A 'Pop Culture' Life
Danielle Turchiano has a dream job: she turned her love of TV into a career in production and later journalism. Then she decided to share her stories with us.
In her second book, appropriately titled My Life, Made Possible By Pop Culture, Danielle speaks frankly about her passion for the small screen and how it has influenced her relationships over the years.
I've gotten to know Danielle fairly well as our careers have crossed paths, and have found her to be one of the most engaging fellow journalists I've gotten to spend time with. I couldn't resist asking her about her newest book and h...

The 10th Anniversary Of '24'
How time flies: 10 years ago today, 24 premiered on FOX, and television - not to mention pop culture and the world - was never the same.
The action-drama series, created by La Femme Nikita bosses Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, and starring Kiefer Sutherland as now-famous government agent Jack Bauer, was a groundbreaking piece of entertainment. It introduced the idea of a television series in real time (each episode was an hour in a day) and employed a distinctive visual style that included the widespread use of "boxes" to provide simultaneous glimpses at multiple storylines. In concept ...

Fall Preview: 'Homeland'
For those of you who want really smart TV: watch Showtime's Homeland tonight. You'll thank me later.
Homeland features the underrated Damian Lewis - proving his stellar work in NBC's Life was the rule and not the exception - as Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody, rescued from Iraq after eight years missing. I always felt like I couldn't say enough about Lewis when Life was on, and I feel that way about his performance here. There's something in his eyes that allows you to read remarkable depth of character, yet looking into them you really can't tell if he's good, evil or if he even knows. ...

Dexter Gets His Wings (Photo)
Producers promised Dexter would explore faith this season and in this first-look photo, it looks like he's earned his wings — in blood, at least.
Dexter Exclusive: In Season 6, Dexter finds... faith?
When "the avenging angel returns," Dexter (Michael C. Hall) will take on single parenting while hiding his secret hobby from his increasingly suspicious sister. The Showtime series will further the spirituality theme with the addition to the cast of Edward James Olmos as a renowned professor of religious history and Mos as an ex-con who found his mission in life by helping other cons.
